NBC is doing great in the morning, daytime, in the evening, late night…only prime time is the problem…
It baffles the imagination to see network news still getting about 24 million viewers collectively tuning in each evening. It would be interesting to see what percentage of those viewers a) have high speed internet; and b) have cable or satellite tv. I suspect they skew low on both counts.
I have both, yet still watch World News from Monday to Friday. It's good to see the top news in 30 minutes as sometimes I don't feel like reading a story online. Plus CNN, FOX, and MSNBC drag a story on WAYYYYY to long. HLN (3pm-5pm) and ABC News (6:30pm) for me everyday!
I have high speed internet and DirecTV and usually watch the first half of NBC NIGHTLY NEWS. The second half when they go to fluff education or people pieces I channel surf. The nightly news of NBC, CBS or ABC to me are better than the cable scrubs.
Is Diane Sawyer doing better or worse or the same than Charles gibson?
I stopped watching the MSM TV News back during the Clinton's second term. The constant defense of Bill, sob story “She's so Strong!” Hillery pieces, and constant harrassment of Ken Starr finally got to my cast iron stomach. I just look stupid… I'm not really!
I only subscribe to the local “Socialist Propaganda Machine” newspaper for the coupons, and to see what political snake oil they are selling the public today.
I have the internet now, and factcheck tools, and many sources on BOTH sides of an issure that lets me make truly informed decisions.
I think you are reading the stats wrong. The 24 million are total for the week – not totals for each night. The report says “viewers for the week….totals.. and then they give totals of 23 million for 7 days.. Pitiful for 3 networks over 7 days and that's all they get. But I do agree I am suprised they get that much. The real news hacks are ABC/NBC/CBS and the ratings show it.
