I've found Destination Truth to have continually grown and evolved during its run so far (it seems like more than 3 years though – but then, SYFY has so many season finales for its programs – one program alone can have a spring, summer, fall and winter finale and thereby have four season premieres too). What Josh Gates checks out seems to get more and more intense each “season”. Last years journey to and night in Chernoble was incredible – and a real eye opener. While Ghost Hunters, by comparison, which leads into DT, is also a good show, Jason and Grant don't seem to like any risks. They do the same routine, down to the exact same questions posed, in episode after episode. I want to scream at them and say: “OK you've convinced me, Ghosts are real – Now, move on and find out what that world is like.” But instead, they ask the same questions over and over. And, that show begins to get somewhat boring for that reason.
Gates and DT, on the other hand, seem to push limits and perhaps they don't always find what they hope for, but they're keeping me interested. And, after all, Josh did uncover some very interesting and significant SNOWMAN evidence on a past episode.

I just discovered Destination Truth thanks to on Demand. I must say, I've really enjoyed it! Glad to see it's doing well.

    Who watches this crap?

I still can't figure it out.

Hi guys. I like Destination Truth, but I have to say that I've seen a few things on the show that aren't quite right. For instance, on the last show, they were in Isreal, on top of Massada, looking for the ghosts of the Isreali rebels. They had a sighting of a man on the Flir camera. This man seemed to be watching them and then he just disappeared. This would have been a fine sighting, except for the fact that the man was clearly wearing pants. The ancient Isreali freedom fighters wore long robs, not pants. Sorry guys.

“The man was clearly wearing pants”…….

Umm…what show were you watching margiebrantis?

People…these episodes are HOURS AND HOURS of footage edited down to 30.min -1.hr episodes.
Josh DOES NOT say EVERYTHING shown as “findings” is 100% proof of anything.
Just like with GH….what is FOUND or RECORDED is put out there for us to judge….

But just because you see something that wasn't pointed out on the show by Josh…means what?
    It's fake?
Who's to say margie that what was filmed WAS an “Isreali freedom fighter”?
It could be anything….so please don't make the mistake of jumping to conclusions….
DTruth doesn't and you shouldn't either!

This has got to be the dumbest concept for a show ever, and anyone who watches is dumb. In two commercials I've seen, they advertised a 60 minute show searching for a leprachaun and a mermaid. Are you f'n kidding me? And people actually tune in to find out if he finds one???? How starved are you for entertainment? What's next, a scientific expedition to the North Pole for Santa Claus?

I mean, what do you people actually expect to find? At least on Monster Quest they search for things that might actually be found, like giant squids or weird obscure animals in isolated regions, but a friggin Leprachaun? Will the failed search for the Easter Bunny finally reveal you should be spending your time doing something else? Or will a brief flash of a colored egg in the forest carefully edited down from 30 hours of footage keep you enthralled enough to tune in for next week's journey to find Peter Pan?

99.9% of what they look for is complete crap. People watch because they go to some of the most remote places on earth, delve into local legends, and Josh Gates is hilarious. Lord of the Rings was about two midgets trying to destroy a pice of jewely but the book and movie was still awesome.

  9. Volton

Um, Lord of the Rings wasn't sold as real. It wasn't a documentary or a reality show. Destination Truth bills itself as a real show, not fiction.

  10. neptune032701

Doesn't change the fact that it's entertaining.

I wouldn't say its any faker then most of the other reality shows out there. All of them take a lot of liberties behind the scenes.

Don't take it so seriously and just enjoy the adventurous spirit it embodies.

  11. Volton

No one ever said it was fake, I'm saying it's stupid because they don't find anything they're looking for and never will because they're looking for fictional characters from literature. But way stupider than the show are the people that would watch it, actually believing that they will get to see a leprachaun.

it's one thing to watch a group of annoying kids on the jersey shore in a house, it's another to spend an hour searching for a fictional creature on a show that bills itself as non-fiction. The payoff for Destination Truth is nothing, except that they fooled enough people to watch.

The only comparison for this show is River Monsters, Monster Quest, and shows like that. At least with those there is some sort of success rate at finding the creatures they're looking for.
