  1. Thanks for posting this guys. Very helpful.

Instead of comparing Leno to Letterman shouldn't we be comparing Leno to what was on during the times Leno was on in each time zone?

Letterman was on way way late in the Eastern/Central times zones. Don't know about the others.

Or maybe no Letterman/Leno comparisons should be made during the basketball.

  3. As always, we can only compare the numbers we get, and we don't get time zone breakdowns (although paying customers do, I've seen them once_.

  4. I'm surprised Leno didn't do better. I just wonder how the game he went up against fared.

Regardless Letterman's in reruns so Leno or Leave it to Beaver can beat an old fart like Letterman. I can not believe the crap jokes this guy yammers. Conan will shake things up in the fall, despite what some of you folks say Conan is a good host, they “NBC” had his hands tied, could not do the wacky things he did on Late Night.

  6. Garebelman

You kinda just admitted he should have stayed in late night. No other late night host on the Tonight Show did the types of things he did even one of Conan's old writers said “The Tonight Show is for an older mature crowd”

I am not saying Conan should have stayed on Late Night, I am saying NBC messed up by cramping Conans style, like lack of the string dance and a much longer monolouge. They should had just let Conan be Conan.

  8. Garebelman

I've seen his style. He does better writing and behind the scenes work and maybe sporadic antics over a monologue. The monologue is suppose to motivate you to leave the channel on that channel and his does not do it. That's one of his weaknesses is the monologue

  9. Paulan

ONE of Conan's weaknesses is right. The others are he's ugly, he has a tinny voice, he makes the interviews all about him and he's not funny.

  10. Garebelman

If he gets the FOX 11PM slot which I am doubtful on, he would get up against someone like Jon Stewart who IS FUNNIER than him. Then it would get cut in to at the 11:30 Nightline, Leno, Letterman which will cause a rift in his audience. I just don't see it working.

Nobody messed up Conan but Conan. It's getting old, the “Conan was screwed” logic. Conan said it himself in his goodbye speech that he did things HIS way, so to say NBC hampered him is ridiculous. Now Leno's back, and, unlike Conan, he had a solid second week. The CocoHeads can scream all they want, but they didn't watch, and now he's gone.

One thing that has to be said, and the main reason Coco failed was the simple fact that he didn't change to fit the Tonight Show. Some may balk at this, but it's true. Letterman was smart enough to know that he had to come off more mature at 11:30 than 12:30. Bye-bye to the sneakers and Dockers, hello to nicely tailored suits. Stupid Pet Tricks? Gone, for the most part. Even the band because “The CBS Orchestra”. It was a rebrand. Coco didn't do that. The execs probably told him to, but he ignored them, and “did it his way.” Now, as a result, he's sitting at home.

  16. Jimmy Fallon is better than Craig Ferguson imo. Son he will be the king of late night. Leno should have left leaving Conan at the tonight show and then Fallon stays at Late Night, then nbc would be on top. Does anyone else think that Leno sucks, i mean his monologue is like 10 minutes of edited clips.
