Although many renewal and cancellation announcements for broadcast TV primetime shows for the 2010-11 season will happen prior to these dates, the network upfront events are the final date on which each network's fall schedules might be revealed.
So, you'll know no later than these dates about the fate of your favorite broadcast primetime shows.

“When Will You Know If Your Favorite Show Is Canceled or Renewed?”
Well I found out my favorite show was canceled 3 years ago. RIP Veronica Mars
I remember last year we didn't find out about Chuck until well after the up-front meetings. Am I mis-remembering?
Thank you!!!
gbondy, mis-remebering, you are.
Last year NBC had “in-front” instead of upfront. It went two or three weeks ahead of the other broadcast networks but didn't wind up making its full fall schedule announcements until the normal upfront week. This year they went back to a regular upfront so it will be synced
gbondy memory better than Gorman memory, it is
Aha, that explains it. I just remember “We're going to find out tomorrow!!!” Then… “Maybe next week!” etc. Thanks for the clarification.
It is possible that CHUCK will not be announced as picked up or canceled on May 17th.
Fortunately, my favorite shows have all been renewed already. There are still a few shows I like that I'm worried about, though. Namely, Chuck and Castle.
I'm a fan of too many bubble shows this year! Castle, FlashForward, Mercy, Human Target, Life Unexpected… I have a feeling this will be one heartbreaking week after the awesome upfronts last year with renewals for Dollhouse, Castle and Better Off Ted.
On the other hand, there are a lot of interesting pilots in development, and I'm really curious to see which ones the networks pick up. May can't come soon enough!
I'm a fan of too many bubble shows this year! Castle, FlashForward, Heroes, Mercy, Human Target, Life Unexpected… I have a feeling this will be a very disappointing week, especially after the awesome surprises of last year's upfronts with renewals for Dollhouse and Better Off Ted.
On the other hand, there are a lot of interesting pilots being developed and I'm curious as to which the networks are attracted to. May can't come soon enough!
You'd think Castle would be renewed before the final ABC date unless something really unexpected (unless your name is pisher) happens with the ratings. I'm still pretty new at this, granted, but it seems a prime candidate for an early announcement if it sticks to its present course, right?
Human Target is about the only show I'm worried about to some degree this year. The last episode was quite good and I'm looking forward to the developing back story about Christopher Chance and “the old man”.
Pretty much all the rest of the shows I've been watching, except for Melrose Place, have been renewed or undoubtedly will be.
Of course, I'm really interested to see if Life Unexpected is renewed. But I also want to know what pilots Dawn Ostroff chose to pick up. This is her chance to take the network in a new direction.
No! I have to wait THAT long for Univision?? Darn it…
I hope we get Chuck news before or on May 17th. Anything else is just brutality.
yep BETWIXT , Nikita and Nomads all take CW in a whole new direction, i read part of the scipt for BETWIXT and it was pretty damn great sort of a mix of Heroes, Roswell and Vampire Diaries
Well Univision isn't cancelling anything right? Since telenevolas have definite endings.
The bubble shows I care for this season:
- Human Target
- Life Unexpected
- V
- FlashForward
- Chuck
-The New Adventures of Old Christine
I hope majority will get a pick up
Yes I remember a Heroes actor saying they would find out if they were coming back in march. Thanks
Luckily most of my favourite shows are safe or ending properly (Lost), so I'll see glee, fringe, Family Guy, American Dad!, The Cleveland Show, The Simpsons, The Vamp Diaries, Modern Family, Cougar Town next year. PLUS PARKS & RECREATION (I LOVE THAT SHOW!)
Its only Heroes that I really hope will be renewed. Although I would also like to see Parenthood (only started watching), Flashforward and Lie To Me renewed as I like to dip in and out on those shows.
It's nice that a couple of shows that I watch have already been renewed, but I'm anxiously awaiting word on Castle (even though I think that it will come back) and Chuck.
I'd like to see V renewed (if the show is good when it returns). And I'm interested to see what winds up happening with Human Target, Life Unexpected, FlashForward and Heroes. Hopefully we'll hear a few more announcements before mid-May.
