"Sons of Tucson" Canceled

Fox has yanked the low-rated Sons of Tucson off the schedule and will just shift American Dad back into the Sunday 9:30p time slot.

Fox plans to burn off the remaining Sons of Tucson episodes this summer on Sundays at 7:30pm.

Additionally, Fox confirmed that 'Til Death is officially dead after this season. That there have now been multiple reports confirming  it is canceled...makes me wonder if it will yet live again somehow! 'Til Death will have it's season finale on June 20.

Yes, I know, it's not exactly a surprise.

  1. Low-rated? When repeats on the same night do better, low rated is an euphemism.

Til Death is like Jesus. You have to wait three days for it to rise again.

  3. Empire

Who didn't see this coming after the premiere, especially with having the post family guy slot, horrible show, Labine is a funny actor, just chose the wrong series, to get into.

  4. will american dad be new episodes or just repeats?

I don't understand. How could FOX be yanking a show? Isn't everything they put on a smash hit?

Fret not, fans of terrible television. FOX has 9 more laugh-challenged episodes of “Sons” to punish you with this summer. Set those TiVos!

This is inaccurate. Fox has not officially cancelled Sons of Tucson and you really shouldn't be reporting it that way. Yes, it is off the line up for a while, but given that it was in a late time slot that didn't make much sense, it is being given an opportunity to show its remaining episodes in an earlier time slot of 7:30 pm to see if can achieve the numbers Fox is looking for there. Give it a chance before you bury it six feet under.

  7. Sorry, Brooke, but it's done, and it will never get another chance (besides the burned off episodes). Fox will announce its 2010-2011 schedule well before the summer burn off begins for SOT on June 20.

I would assume repeats because officially there's no new American Dad until the Fall begins, although I'm sure there must be a handful of episodes ready for transmission, for just such an eventuality.

Well, that announcement actually came later than I was expecting.

With its ratings, I knew it was coming, and was actually surprised it survived past last week. Nevertheless, the show improved over the last few episodes and I'm sorry to see it go. I wonder now if Global in Canada will continue their Thursday night broadcasts like they've been doing or leave it for the summer as well.

  13. I saw the pilot and that was enough. Fox really just needs to stop debuting live action sitcoms during Animation Domination. I don't care how much they say the tone of live action show X is like an animated series, it isn't going to help them. It hasn't before and it won't now. They've got something good with their animated block, just leave it alone.

  14. ShirtlessLocke

Well that was clearly going to happen.

According to the updated schedule on The Futon Critic (http://thefutoncritic.com/news/2010/04/05/fox-b…), it looks like American Dad may be new for the month of April. Every other broadcast which is a repeat states that fact, but it doesn't say “Repeats” next to American Dad.

  16. good. now if only they'd cancel american dad, the cleveland show, and family guy.

  17. CJ_Shizzle

Haha! 4 episodes, exactly what I was betting on! *plays Price Is Right ding/siren sound*

Tyler Labine was brilliant on Reaper, and the actors playing those kids would pretty good for a family drama like Parenthood, but probably not on a comedy, especially one as bad as this was. The only part of the premise that made sense was the kids' dad going to prison and them not wanting to be in foster care, but why they picked a random dead-end employee to be their new dad, let alone having him agree after a brief discussion makes no sense AT ALL.

Good thing Fox is really ramping up their live-action comedy development slate; just Fox, don't put on Sunday night again, pretty please. >:(

On the bright side, at least it shows a network CAN cancel a bad show. ;)

'Til Death is now one episodes a week vs two. Looks like Fox will still have 20 or so unaired episodes by the time the show is officialy 'gone'. Wow. Wonder if they will air the remaining 4th season episodes or just the 3rd?

  19. This is a good show, and why the heck would they get rid of it??? to me last night would be an acception to the ratings because of Easter and re-runs as a lead-in plus last I check the show was able to keep most of its audience after the first week.

  20. Empire

5 New episodes, which were suppose to start on the 11th i believe, but this season for American Dad had 18 episodes order, so i suppose it will be 5 all new plus maybe one repeat.
