Although Trauma ultimately had its episode order upped to 20 episodes in the aftermath of Jay Leno in prime time, NBC halted production after 18 episodes, according to The Futon Critic.
The season, and no doubt series finale will air Monday, April 26 at 9pm.
The series wound up getting more episodes than it looked like it was going to get, with NBC initially announcing plans very early to end production and then reversing course once it became apparent NBC would need more programming with the shift away from Leno at 10pm. Unfortunately for fans of Trauma, the ratings were, dare I say it, traumatic.

Oh crap. They wouldn't have had time to wrap anything up then. I highly suggest Trauma fans (myself) stop watching as of tonight cause we're almost guaranteed a hanger.
Well, at least NBC is cutting short a crappy show instead of a good or even a decent one.
I've grown to like Trauma too, but the show isn't serialized, so I assume they will have a nice and tidy self contained plot since it wasn't originally planned to be the season finale.
Well it's not Lost or anything as far as serialization but there have been some arcs over a couple episodes and maybe they planned to start something down the stretch to finish it in the finale. Maybe.
Thats too bad for those still watching it.

Not really surprising considering how low the ratings are but it is still ashamed. With only two episodes left, they might as well have finished out the season and then ended it. Sorry to all the Trauma fans.
Despite low ratings, this is a pretty good series. Not so good as Grey's or Pivate Practice or even the freshman Miami Medical; however, we see the other side of Medicine. And I like it. Sadly, it was cancelled and cut off to 18 episodes.
Its about time. When you get beat by repeats of Minute To Win It, what do you expect?
Mercy is just as bad. I wonder if MTWI could possibly just rerun at wednesdays 8pm for the rest of the season.
I need a defibrillator, stat!
Clear!
…oh crap, it's on fire now!
With the state NBC is in atm, and the lack of other shows waiting on the bench, it's just been lucky to make it this far honestly. It was already lucky enough to get a second chance last month, but no so luck there.
Oh well, I've started to like it a little(I'll watch a full ep when there's no new TBBT just so I don't have to leave the TV for an hour) but I'm living with it being canceled; the acting was kinda emotionless, but I liked Rabbit's story(even if he got annoying at times), and the best part, that beautiful San Francisco photography. Aimee Garcia was probably the best actress on here, hopefully she can find a great pilot in the future.
Let's just hope Universal can release the complete show on Blu-ray.
I see this website now gets its news from me. That's understandable. I write the news, after all.
The ratings might have been traumatic, but not nearly as much as the show itself…
…more like the scene from M*A*S*H, when Frank Burns runs over Colonel Potter's jeep with a tank, Potter sadly looks at his mechanical horse, and puts it out of its misery in the true cavalry manner…
Say it with me: “Dead!”
I've watched Trauma since the Pilot, and I can safely say it's a very good show. If anyone has the NBC HQ mailing address, could I have it, please?
Thx
