The regular top 25 table for the week ending March 28 is posted below, and for the first time I got a really good look at age and gender demographics and it was pretty interesting. Ranked by average audience for adults 18-49, the list looks quite a bit different. “Two and a Half Men” comes out on top, followed by “Family Guy,” “The Office,” “Seinfeld,” and “Everybody Loves Raymond.”
Sorted by Adults 18-34 it’s “Family Guy,” “The Office,” “Two and a Half Men,” “King of the Hill,” and “Seinfeld.”
Despite besting “Oprah” frequently in overall viewing, as was the case for the week below, I’d long suspected “Judge Judy” would get badly beaten by Oprah with women 18-49. But not so much. At least for the week ending the March 28, “Oprah” did win out with women 18-49 but the margin wasn’t as big as I thought it would be (1.9 vs. 1.7). And I was surprised to see that with Women 18-34, “Maury” (1.5) led both “Oprah” (1.3) and “Judge Judy” (1.1). Without any past history of seeing that data, I’m not sure how typical the week was, but I’ll hopefully build up a historical perspective over time.
Note: all numbers above and below are “average audience” figures rather than “gross average audience.”
Legend of the Seeker Fans: The updated table for Season two’s ratings is still below the normal syndicated top 25 table. But as a bonus I can tell you that Seeker had a 0.8 rating with adults 18-49. Whether that’s good or bad is difficult to say since it’s the only first-run scripted show in syndication.
WWE Friday Night Smackdown! Fans: Smackdown! was in the top 25, see table below.
Please note that the syndicated weekly results are delayed versus normal reporting. While we get the broadcast and cable ratings for the prior Monday-Sunday period every Tuesday, there is an extra week of lag time with the syndicated ratings and these numbers are not for last week, but for the week before last (in other words, the WWE Friday Night Smackdown! is for March 26, not April 2).
