Keith Olbermann Takes A Ratings Backseat To Rachel Maddow At MSNBC

Categories: Cable News Ratings

Has Keith Olbermann slipped from his top ratings perch within MSNBC?

During the month of April*  MSNBC's Countdown With Keith Olbermann trailed the Rachel Maddow Show in primetime adults 25-54 ratings, the demo group that news advertisers target. Although Countdown also trailed Maddow in March, Keith was gone from the show effectively the entire month.

The Rachel Maddow Show is up noticeably in the adults 25-54 demo since January-February, but Countdown has been flat.

Short term blip or new ratings queen at MSNBC?

*which for TV ratings was 3/29-4/25/10

Probably just a short term blip, since Maddow has herself been in the news recently. But I love her show, so hopefully I'm wrong.

I like both shows, but I usually catch the repeat at 10:00 pm (9:00 CST) because it's light out now when Keith comes on, and I like to watch some of the network programs like House, American Idol, 30 Rock, etc.

I love both shows, but Keith's roll is to be the progressive answer to Rush Limbaugh. Loud, boisterous, but good at rallying the troops. Rachel has a much calmer demeanor and more intellectual style. That may be making her more appealing to many people. Sure she takes digs at the right… but that is what you do on opinion talk shows.

When I watch any of the talking heads shows, it's usually Maddow. KO got to be too much for me (though maybe he's toned it down since Jon Stewart ripped him apart), and I find all of these shows so repetitive. Maddow is bright though, and does a lot of investigative work.

Olbermann should regain the lead, at least for a while. Call it the “Yanking Donny Deutsch from MSNBC for offending KO” bounce.

Saruma, My Fav. show is The Ed Show. I like Dylan, Rachel, Keith, Chris. I enjoy watching shows that cater to my liberal thinking, so MSNBC is a treat and it is about time we have something to watch. I don't agree that Keith should be placed in the same sentence with Rush. Keith is more intelligent, by far.

Even liberals are tired of the hate speech of Olbermann. Watch his ratings continue their slide as more negative press hits him due to his ego. He is insane.

I watch her while I'm going to the next channel and I cringe. Ewww!!!

Well just maybe it could be the relentless attacks on Palin, Beck, Orielly, the last president and did
I mention Palin? This average and former sports hack has tried to make himself relevant in the political arena and is ending up an angry, jealous putz. His latest email conspiracy deal with Palin was hilarious. He sucks.

    because he sucks.

Are you kidding me? Olby is the worst and Shultz is right behind him.Why doesn't Olby have a new show that just deals with everyone he's jealous of. Beck, Orielly, Rush, Hannity and of course Palin.
This fat idiot should be reffing little league games. MSNBC will get eventually.

  15. Tell us how you really feel, ddski! :-) Sheesh.

Are these the highest numbers for Maddow, or was there a longterm dip occuring prior to January-February?

  16. 22angel

I hope they both go by the wayside when Comcast takes the reins.

Isn't being the highest-rated MSNBC host kind of like being the tallest midget?
