Modern Family was adjusted up 0.1 ratings points to a series high 4.2 adults 18-49 rating, while American Idol was adjusted up two tenths to a 6.7 adults 18-49 rating. America's Next Top Model was adjusted up a tenth in adults 18-49 to a 1.5 rating. High Society was adjusted down a tenth to a 0.3 adults 18-49 rating, and yet I'm sure the "it's already renewed" rumors will continue.

Despite Modern Family's amazing-ness, and this coming from someone who's never watched either show, Cougar Town (and unrelatedly SVU) still can't get a 3.
Though Top Model has a big advantage over Gossip Girl in viewers & 18-49, Gossip Girl edged it out in young women this week.
I'm surprised that a repeat of The Middle at 8pm did about as well the 8pm reruns of Modern Family. I think ABC is considering moving The Middle to 8pm in the fall with their recent decision to put Middle reruns at 8pm. Personally, I wish more people would watch The Middle because it's not this Malcolm In The Middle ripoff that a lot of people make it out to be. Kudos to Modern Family for achieving a series high in the demo! I've been a big fan since the pilot, but I haven't had a chance to see the last few episodes (mostly because of Idol). It's very interesting to me how Mercy performed better in a highly competitive hour; perhaps it is an “adult” show that should only air at 9pm or later (a la Cougar Town and Family Guy).
I watched the first 4 or 5 episodes of The Middle. They only wish they could be Malcolm in the Middle.

I really wish Modern Family viewers would give Cougar Town a chance. Despite the original premise, the show has evolved into a hilarious family comedy. It's not about Courteney Cox sleeping with young guys anymore, and it's really good.
