“World News with Diane Sawyer” Grows Total Viewing Audience Year to Year
“World News” Increases Demo Audience by 6% and Total Viewing Audience by 5% Week to Week
For the week of May 10, “ABC World News with Diane Sawyer” averaged 7.32 million Total Viewers and a 1.7/7 among Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research.
“World News” delivered 190,000 additional Total Viewers compared to the same period last year. The program delivered its best demo and Total Viewer numbers since March, increasing its demo audience by 6% and its Total Viewing audience by 5% week to week.
Compared to the same week last year, “World News” increased its total viewing advantage over “CBS Evening News” by 13%. Additionally, “World News” topped “NBC Nightly News” among both Total Viewers and Adults 25-54 on Friday, May 14.
Last week “World News” covered the announcement of Elena Kagan’s nomination to become the next Supreme Court Justice, with reporting from Jake Tapper, Terry Moran and Jonathan Karl.
In addition, “World News” continued to provide daily coverage of the oil spill in the Gulf, with Jeffrey Kofman reporting from the region.
