Grey's Anatomy was at the top of the adults 18-49 ratings hill on "Finale Thursday", as most shows were up from last week, but down from last season's finales.
Finale Fever was evident on ABC as part 1 of FlashForward's series finale jumped 23% last week to a 'still no question why it was canceled' 1.6 adults 18-49 rating. Grey's Anatomy's 2 hour finale drew a 5.3 adults 18-49 rating. That was up 36% from last week, but down 10% from last season's finale (which has to be considered a win, considering the overall ratings decline in the show this season).
On Fox, Bones' season finale was up 8% from last week, and up 8% from last season's finale (rare on the night) to a 2.8 adults 18-49 rating. Fringe was one of the few to completely miss the finale party, falling 13% from last week to just a 2.0 rating (will get a comparison to last season's finale later).
On CBS, CSI's finale 3.2 adults 18-49 rating was up 7% from last week, but down 9% from last season's finale. The Mentalist was even vs. last week with a 3.2 rating, which was 14% below last season's finale.
On NBC, Community didn't seem to benefit from the absence of Survivor like other 8pm shows, it was even with last week's 2.0 adults 18-49 rating. Parks & Recreation got a 5% bump vs. last week, as well as last season's finale with a 2.1 adults 18-49 rating. The Office finale was merely even vs. last week, and down 3% from last year's finale with a 3.4 rating. 30 Rock was up 12% from last week, and even with last season's finale with a 2.8 rating. The Marriage Ref finale was up 31% vs. last week to a 2.1 rating.

Definitions:
Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.
Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.
Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)
Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs which are currently in approximately 24.4% of all U.S. TV households. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

FLASH~FIGURES!
I think it would've been smarter to have Fringe wait a week for their finale to avoid everyone elses…
Oh well, was an interesting episode and I look forward to next season.
Wow, people like Grey's Anatomy.
I'm interested in seeing how Community stands this fall once TBBT is pushed to the 8pm slot on Thursdays. Should be interestng.
Poor Fringe :*(
WOW Excellent improvement for Greys Anatomy!!! It killed CSI and The Mentalist!
That Grey's finale was intense. Nice job. A lot of things happened that I did not expect. Really good work there.
I think the fact that the 8:00 hour didn't have a single show breaking a 3.0 during finale week explains why CBS sees it as such a fertile oasis for Big Bang. The only problem is that they weren't aggressive enough. Yes, they will further dominate the 8 pm hour, but that's not going to save them at 9 and 10.
Damn, Grey's after six seasons is still a powerhouse
Well, in medical Dramas, Grey's Finale just smashed House Finale.
greys absolutely ruled finsales i mean jus looked at how word of mouth helped it grow every half an hour. the finale with the shooter absolutely rocked. havent watched greys in awhile but def will watch this coming fall!!!
ABC: Wow for Grey's Anatomy, I don't usually watch but it was really good.
FOX: Bones was up, I'm guessing becuase there was no Survivor. Ouch for Fringe.
NBC: I bet NBC isn't happy they renewed The Marriage Ref. Forgot about the comedies at 8 and watched Grey's at 9.
CBS: They really need to switch The Mentalist and CSI. I don't usually watch The Mentalist, but I watched the repeat and it was ok, but I won't judge the show based on that 1 episode..
CW: No comment.
In what way was Flash Forward a finale? I don't understand the Part 1 iteration in this sense.
Greys was outstanding, I thought. Now if it can just maintain that standard for a season
NBC's 18-34 rating for Thursday night would have to be quite pleasing for them.
NBC! NBC!!
Community finishing 2nd, even with a CBC repeat, is poised an ready to take on TBBT in September. NBC could likely finish 2nd 8-9.
May have been a big mstake holding back P&R till midseason. But it's tough to shoot when your main star is pregnant.
Fringe's finale was a two part episode so I would imagine they were really limited to those who watched the first half last week. A drop can be expected if you assume that there were some people who didn't like the first half last week and decided not to watch the second half this week.
Damn, Grey's killed it over and over and over again. Never watch that show but I guess I'm happy for it. However, it is part of (along with CSI) the problem against Fringe. I still don't understand why Fringe is in the worst timeslot of the week: it was a generally high-rated show last year, not going under 7mil, and staying around 10-11 mill. viewers consistently! It's like Fox is throwing Fringe under the bus! Oh well, at least 2 things will be for the better next season: Lost is over and I doubt those viewers will be into V because it's just not as interesting or mindbending: maybe they will flock over to Fringe which is turning into the best SCIFI show on television. Also, Supernatural, while having around 2.5-3mil. viewers, always interferes with Fringe's ratings: I know this because I know a dozen people, including myself that have to hulu Fringe because SPN takes priority. After SPN moves, I'll bet that helps the ratings a bit next year, unless it's been irreparably damaged this year by the competition…
Grey's KILLED it last night! (as well as one or two characters
). So happy it ended with a 6.2 :O
Ooher for Grey. I was expecting a flat 5. Much better than Housewives' flat 4. Grey's final half-hour did better than this week's Idol results show actually. Though Grey's vs. Lost finale, hmm. I'm guessing the actual finale part will be more like…high 5.
My information is that FlashForward was part 1 of a two part finale, although I am certainly open to correction.
I hadnt watched greys in at least 2 seasons but watched to see who got shot(Great Promo) What a freaky creepy finale!! They did a excellent job on it !!!
