We’re pleased to announce that we’re joining indieWIRE's fast growing blog network, which includes film blogs by veteran film journalists Anne Thompson, Leonard Maltin and Todd McCarthy, and the movie fan site Spout.
Founded in 1996, indieWIRE is the leading daily news and information source on independent film, including coverage of independent, documentary and foreign language films, as well as industry news, film festival reports, filmmaker interviews, and reviews. It continues to expand its coverage of the broader entertainment industry.
You’ll see some indieWIRE branding on the site shortly, but otherwise things will be the same. As ever, we’ll cover the overnight ratings and though it’s taking the summer off, the Renew/Cancel Index will return new and improved for the 2010-11 television season.
Bill will still rant about the excellent CW PR team mesmerizing the TV media. I’ll still make an obsession out of the ratings for Starz’ Spartacus: Blood and Sand and HBO’seven if the ratings for premium cable channel shows don’t matter much. There will still be cool prizes for guessing the season premiere ratings on USA. And of course, there will still be commenters lamenting competitive time slots and how their favorite shows got no promotion.
Why indieWIRE? Our friend Ted Leonsis who is Vice Chairman Emeritus at AOL, owns the Washington Capitals NHL franchise and is soon-to-be owner of the Washington Wizards NBA franchise, is also the founder and chairman of SnagFilms. When SnagFilms launched in the summer of 2008 it acquired indieWIRE. Ted recently introduced us to SnagFilm’s CEO Rick Allen and said we ought to talk.
After learning of indieWIRE's expansion plans, we decided teaming up made a lot of sense and are excited to join the indieWIRE blog network.
