It was always a real longshot, but ABC has passed on picking up Ghost Whisperer after it was canceled by CBS.
Here is the statement from the Ghost Whisperer producers:
“After five wonderful seasons and over 100 episodes, we are disappointed to announce Ghost Whisperer will not be returning for a sixth season. We’ve had an incredible experience and owe a debt of gratitude to everyone involved. We continue our relationship with ABC Studios and look forward to developing many more successful projects together in the future.” – Kim Moses and Ian Sander, Sander/Moses Productions.
New Adventures Of Old Christine fans should not be expecting anything different.

not surprised. Ghost Whisperer had a good run, though it did seem to die off pretty fast.
My mom will be disappointed…
My mom will be disappointed…
Well at least we got some kind of closure and not a cliffhanger, I can live with that. I'm sad but I'll live. See you on the other side Mel & co.
Any news on Old Christine?
I wonder if she saw it coming
My guess is if they've officially passed on GW by now then they've probably made a decision on OC by now as well. My guess is we'll know soon enough either way. I'm thinking if it were going to happen it would have by now.
I'm not surprised.
I actually am surprised. Not often does it happen that a show gets the chance to be saved after cancellation but this season is just full of these cases. And while I'm sure L&O, Old Christine and possibly even Heroes will be left hanging (they'll work out some syndication deal), I really was banking on GW being picked up, and not only because I'm a fan.
Well, it had a good run but literally died in the last 4 weeks, unexpectedly. Hopefully the cast will bounce back soon. And ABC might have just worsened Body of Proof's chances.
sad :[ i would have loved 13 more eps but that's show biz. idk why but i have a feeling this has more to do with their new show they are producing for ABC than anything else, an ultimatum of either renew GW for another yr or try to launch a new show with a similar premise and maybe it'll last for a few yrs.
Damn you ABC!
There is no reason for ABC to pick up Old Christine. Ghost Whisperer is the one that made sense.
Did anybody else find it strange that Jennifer Love Hewitt was guest hosting on The View this week and they were talking about Ghost Whisperer and ignoring the fact that it got canceled?
If this is any indication, looks like Old Christine will permanently bite the dust too, since GW was more likely to be saved than the other because of better relative ratings, and in-house production by ABC, plus Old Christine has a satisfactory series finale as it is. Sorry Julia Louis-Dreyfus, you've got star power, go use it on something fresh, OK?
Never understood why ABC would consider picking up a show from another network with a 1.5 demo.
If they cancel Flashforward at around 1.5 demo, why would they pick up Ghost Whisperer? A show with that age is not also worth picking up…
I dont understand why anyone thought ABC would want GW. The ratings stink the last few months
All these networks suck abc, nbc, cbs, always cancelling shows for a show that last a min, I am sure it will be replaced with a show that will last maybe one season then drop, this has been going on alot, mercy, trauma, eastwick, all cancelled after one season, its something these networks are starting to do all the time, i do not think any of them have a clue anymore what they are doing.they will replace GW, and the next show will fall in the toilet that replaces it. Honestly it has become a habbit with these networks lately…..
It's not like new shows failing is something new. Only about a third of new shows will get a second season, and that's the way it's been for years. The year before GW premiered, only 27% of CBS's new shows lasted to the next season. Does that mean CBS should have not bothered premiering GW with such a small chance of doing better? Should networks hold onto their expensive, failing shows with an iron grip out of fear that they can't do any better? The TV business is just that, a business. It's about making money. If a show isn't making money anymore, it's better to try something new than to throw good money after bad in vain hope that the show will miraculously turn around and become profitable.
i think cbs is dumb for this, they owned friday night with medium and Ghost whisper, the ratings of either wernt amazing, but there isnt a show with great ratings on friday, its a sucky timeslot cuz 75 percent of people go out friday night and then your left with the senior population lol.
