Definitions:
*Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.
Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.
Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)
Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs which are currently in approximately 24.4% of all U.S. TV households. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

good for glee. it was a great finale.
Very strong numbers for Glee especially since its summer. Hiatus didnt hurt it one bit. Definitely FOXs biggest success of the year.
Wow @ Glee!
Glee has to be rolling in the money. Not only is it pulling great ratings, the albums also sell very well. On itunes the newest glee album is even beating the christina aguilera album (although that album has 2 versions so it would probably be on top if not for that) and the twilight album.
I second that wow.
Great Glee ratings! Still rolling strong in the summer and without the AI lead-in.
With numbers like that for a finale, I believe Glee will do very well in the fall
Wow, I'm really surprised at how well Glee's been doing, especially since it's serialized. This is almost as good as how it did behind Idol.
Glee should be very proud of its ratings! it just showed it doesnt need american idol, i was a little worried it would dip alot back to like 7 million after AI went off the air…
Big numbers for Glee. The drop-off without the Idol lead-in hasn't been anywhere near as big as many thought it would be. Now the all eyes turn to whether it can carry these numbers over to Fall 2010.
Why did Glee finish so late? It should've scored even higher numbers by airing two weeks ago with the other finales.
Glee has a long production time so April was the earliest they could start their back 9.
So then you get it running into June of course. As you can tell with Lie to Me running in the summer, Fox's schedule is a little cramped as it is anyway because they only have two hours of primetime.
Fox's problem is the problem every other network wishes they had.
Random note on Glee – when it returns in the Fall for its second season it'll be in its third time slot, it'll then move timeslots for a fourth time mid season. Its like Fox is setting out to disprove every 'the network killed my show by…' fan theory with one show. Changing timeslots, extended hiatus, losing lead-ins and its even pushed the season into the summer schedule.
Great comment — although I think it also proves that juggernaut cross-promotional marketing can sometimes overcome even the most bone-headed decisions . . .
I didn't expect Glee to have such a good finale but I'm impressed. I have seen the last few episodes of Glee and the pilot. I'll probably watch the finale sometime in the next few days.
The Glee Finale was amazing this is the kind of show I wouldn't expect to like but for some reason I not only like it but I love it.
These numbers are outstanding hopefully Glee doesn't pull a Heroes.
D. Fish!
Go Lakers!
Whoo Glee up to 4.7 in finals.
And in W18-34 it got a 6.4, which is tied with the final Idol performance episode.
I'm very happy for Glee.I do admit, the past few episodes wasn't as great as the episodes in the fall but the producers/writers/directors used the term “We saved the best for last” and they did and they deserve that amount of ratings.
I hope Glee will do well this fall or it will become the next Heroes.
Glee must have an overall audience of 18-20 million? Being a teen – young adult oriented show it has a much higher chunk of it's audience watching via other means. Not many people I know watch it live, they just catch it on tvshack or something, and if it has 11 million people watching it live I would like to see just how many viewers it has spanning over all the different ways of watching. (and yes, i am competent enough to know that the viewers who watch illegally don't matter to advertisers, I'm just curious).
