TBS’s MY MANNY Returns for a Fourth Season With Walmart as the Exclusive Sponsor

MY MANNY to Premiere on TBS in Tyler Perry’s MEET THE BROWNS Commercial Pods June 30

TBS is returning with a fourth season of the successful microseries MY MANNY this summer with Walmart as the exclusive sponsor.  MY MANNY will premiere on June 30 and air twice every Wednesday evening for five consecutive weeks within specialized commercial breaks within Tyler Perry’s MEET THE BROWNS at 10 and 10:30 p.m.  All ten of the two-minute episodes will encore at tbs.com.

MY MANNY is a heartwarming, comedic TBS microseries starring Elise Neal (Hustle & Flow), Alana Ubach (Hung), Sharif Atkins (ER, White Collar), Greg Alan Williams (Remember the Titans) and Tarren Mason.  The microseries is directed by Glen Owen and Angela Barnes Gomes and produced by State Line Films.   It premiered on TBS in January 2009, with Walmart sponsoring the second season last summer.

“We are delighted to come together with Walmart for another season of this successful microseries,” said Linda Yaccarino, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Turner Entertainment Ad Sales/Marketing and Acquisitions.  “As the storyline and characters have grown, so have our advertising opportunities, including first-ever digital enhancements to a Walmart shopping opportunity available through the MY MANNY micro site.”

MY MANNY tells the story of Jennifer Peterson (Neal), an attractive widow who is struggling to balance a full-time catering career and the needs of her young son Jamel (Mason).  When Jennifer’s nanny called out sick in the first season, her agency surprised her by sending a very handsome “manny” as a replacement.  Mike (Atkins) immediately becomes a role model for Jamel and Jennifer found herself becoming increasingly unnerved over her own feelings for him.  Jennifer’s neighbor and friend Melanie (Ubach) certainly didn’t help the situation when she fueled the fire by encouraging Jennifer to act on her feelings for Mike.

Jennifer is a hardworking professional woman, looking for balance in her life and ways to save money, live better and move her family ahead.  The fourth season picks up as Jennifer and Mike finally agreeing to start dating.  As a protective mom, Jennifer is reluctant to share the good news with Jamel, despite Melanie insisting she tells him.  The fourth season also sees Grandpa (Williams) stepping in as the new Manny, while Mike goes back to school.

Walmart serves as the natural backdrop to select episodes, including a shopping trip to take advantage of Rollbacks on Fourth of July grilling supplies and products featured on the set.

Online, tbs.com will feature a custom MY MANNY section, sponsored exclusively by Walmart.  The site includes an interactive shopping video, highlighting Walmart products featured in various episodes of the show.  The video will allow users to link back to Walmart.com for purchase information, a first-of-its-kind opportunity for the Turner microseries.  The micro site will also feature cast bios, photography, show description, interactive episode guide and additional background to complement the on-air content.

TBS will drive awareness for MY MANNY and Tyler Perry’s MEET THE BROWNS through custom on-air tune-ins featured each week and leading up to the premiere each Wednesday evening, presented exclusively by Walmart.  TBS will also feature in-show graphics and creative billboards airing within the featured episodes.

MY MANNY will air within Tyler Perry’s MEET THE BROWNS, the #2 series on all of television, behind only American Idol, in delivery of African-Americans 18-49.  Tyler Perry’s MEET THE BROWNS, which currently airs Wednesday nights on TBS, stars David Mann (Madea Goes to Jail) as thefun-loving, wardrobe-challenged “Downtown” Leroy Brown, who is trying to fulfill his father’s dying wish by opening a retirement home called Brown Meadows.  Helping him out are his daughter, Cora (Tamela Mann – Meet the BrownsDiary of a Mad Black Woman); his nephew, Will (Lamman Rucker –Why Did I Get Married?), a doctor; Will’s wife, Sasha (Denise Boutte – Days of Our Lives), a nurse; and Jesús Hernandez (Antonio Jaramillo – CSI: Miami), a maintenance engineer studying to be a lawyer.  Also trying to lend a hand is London Sheraton (Arielle Vandenberg – Epic Movie), a not-too-bright celebrity/heiress who has to complete community service at Brown Meadows for a DUI conviction.
