Wednesday, Nov. 10 – LIE TO ME (Season Premiere)

What the hell? It'll basically premiere when all the other shows (Survivor, ABC comedies, Undercovers) have already picked up steam. What is it with Fox and this show – mid-season start (season 1), summer airing (season 2) and now season 3 is pushed to November. Why won't they give it a decent chance and premiere it in September for once? This way, even if it does get the back 9, it'll still air the last 6 or so in the summer.

Everything else seems to be in check, pretty much as expected. Looking forward to checking out (though not expecting much of) the new comedies. No Ordinary Family will be challenged in its slot now more than ever, since it's premiering a week after Glee.

  2. rob60990

Good No Ordinary Family premiere aint going up against Glee season premiere. Im sure Glee will premiere big but drop the week after to normal.

  3. Jon

Dang. I didn't realize Hell's Kitchen was coming back so soon. I think they are way overdoing it with Ramsay.

Interesting that they're replacing Wanda Sykes with reruns of their new shows. I bet that doesn't last and it's House before the end of the year.

  4. RhuwM

The November airing is probably a good thing for Lie to Me, as every other show will get a 2-4 week hiatus for the Baseball. Usually FOX brings everything back in late August/early September, so it will be hard for their new comedies to get much traction before their bumped for sport.

  5. SJ

The sweeps period is in November. I highly doubt any show will be on hiatus until Thanksgiving.

  6. deadman67797

At least Lie to Me will get a decent start. And I hope there will be no more giant hiatuses for this one, because, seriously, it really ticked me off. I also can't wait for Running Wilde.

  7. Julia

I think what RhuwM means is that Lie to Me's third season won't be broken up due to baseball.

  8. Finbar

It will be interesting to see how well fox does this fall, though I would have thought that airing Lie To Me in the summer would mean that it would help the show with more viewers for the fall (though maybe FOX is scared it won't do much better than its summer airings). The Good Guys still set to premiere? I was kinda expecting the opposite, I think though FOX thinks it will get higher ad rates (and hold current viewers) if it acts as though the Good Guys isn't dead and not hitting the fall. I think the show will (like southland) just not premiere in its friday fall timeslot.

Though if they were going to premeire TGG there, why not put it there now? I mean at best it will build up with an audience of people who watch TV on fridays (not mondays).

Also, although its not ur fault, when i refresh sometimes my comment box has an advert in it, and the top right hand advertisement has my comment in it :S

  9. On a show by show basis, it's always anybody's guess, but Fox's overall ratings averages for the fall are so dependent on the baseball playoffs and World Series, that their regular shows don't move the averages much.

And last year baseball was very, very good to Fox. They had a six game AL championship series with the Yankees, and a six game World Series with the Yankees. Improving on that will be very difficult, particularly since they automatically get the NL championship series, which is guaranteed not to have either the Yankees or the Red Sox!

  10. DonJ1973

I think FOX is trying to give Lie to Me a little gestation period between seasons. Season 2 will finish approximately September 6th. I think it's a little too soon to jump right away into season 3.

  11. DonJ1973

Although I will check out Lone Star on Monday nights, I kind of hope that it bombs so FOX can move Human Target to Monday's at 9pm. Being that Human Target is produced by Warner Bros and not FOX, IMO it's a way too expensive show to air Friday night and only get maybe 5M viewers and a 1.2 in the demos.

  12. is fox trying to murder Fringe?
it obviously didnt work last year on thursday why are they making the same mistake!
    i love that show

  13. Craig

Not trying to start something just want to know is there any indications on when Idol will announce Simon replacement?

  14. Jon

They didn't announce Ellen until early September.

  15. Rex36

They are doing Good Guys on Fridays right now and it's getting even lower ratings there. If that's it's intended night Fox should rethink their plan, unless of course the plan is to kill it.

    -Hell's Kitchen

  17. Mega64

Who watches Hell's Kitchen for the cooking?

I'm kinda surprised Fox is running two seasons essentially back-to-back. It's not the first time they've done it, but it's kinda weird, especially considering how they've pretty much rushed through this current season with so many two-hour double episodes.

Not that I'm complaining, of course.

  18. Hell's Kitchen averaged 3.5 in the 18-49 demo for the 4 episodes that ran last Fall, making it a top-30 show. Presumably, though, X-Factor will take its place next Fall.

  19. ap076

    Point well taken.

  20. Nathan,

The NBC Comedies are niches. They didn't do the damage.

What did the damage last year was CSI and Grey's. But both of those are down. Way down. Grey's especially. Fringe has its audience, and more will come back from the online viewing hopefully.
