Syndicated Ratings: When Will Judge Judy Get Her Own Cable Network?; Plus Smackdown, Seeker

Categories: '

Written By

July 27th, 2010

At this point it is hardly a surprise to find that Oprah lost to her daytime archrival Judge Judy, it's the 16thtime in the last 18 weeks it has happened.  Alas, her honor has no book club or cable network named after her.  Yet.   Both Judge Judy and Oprah were in repeats, but Judy crushed Oprah anyway averaging 6.15 million to Oprah's 3.7 million.   Oprah was down 20% versus the same week last year, when the show was also in repeats.  Judge Judy was up 16% versus last year, when it too was in repeats.

Oprah's 2.8 household rating was the lowest in the show's history.

With overall syndication Judge Judy trailed only the usual top three of  Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and Two and a Half Men.

The Ellen Degeneres Show was out of the top 25, averaging 2.06 million viewers and a 1.6 HH rating (tied for 37th) for the week.

Bones fans should be happy to see it in the top 25 (note, the averages below do not include the numbers for the airings on TNT, but only national syndication).

Legend of the Seeker Fans: It's repeats from here on out for LotS until news of another season or it disappears from syndication at the end of its current run. The updated table for Season two’s ratings is still below the normal syndicated top 25 table.

Friday Night Smackdown was out of the top 25, averaging 2.857  million viewers for the week and a 1.8 household rating on Friday, July 16.

Please note that the syndicated weekly results are delayed versus normal reporting.  While we get the broadcast and cable ratings for the prior Monday-Sunday period every Tuesday, there is an extra week of lag time with the syndicated ratings and these numbers are not for last week, but for the week before last.

Oprah out of the top ten is a shocker!

  2. I'd like to see John F. Kerry, stand before Judge Judy and do a http://www.LIVESHOT.cc

  3. Starr Manning's Lesbian Lover

Why don't you stop promoting you're pathetic political website on a site for TV Ratings. Leave the politics at the door, hey?

  4. hinese

Oprah's fall began when she got political. Never a good idea to immediately turn off 50% of your audience.

  5. When Oprah was revealed as a Christian-bashing occult new age black liberation feminist who has channeling occult mediums on her shows, I'm guessing that didn't help in the ratings department.

  7. Flannigan

Obama's drop in approval ratings are affecting Oprah's television ratings proportionally,

and her weight in an inversely proportional manner!

  8. stillwaitingforchange

She lost me when she claimed she liked Obama, not because he was black but because he was BRILLLLLLLIANT. Ever since then I have lost all respect for her. How can anyone believe a person is brilliant when the only time he says anything with meaning it has been written by someone else and flashed on a teleprompter?

  16. Oprah is in the Tank, Obama is in the Tank and Tiger can't sink a 3 foot putt. Wonder what's going on?

  17. Ed

Urinate on half of your customers, and this is what you get. Going political didn't work out so well for the big “O”!

  18. froggy546

Great news. People watch Judge Judy because she thinks like the rest of us. What is right is right and wrong is wrong. No liberal bull just tell it like it is. I would vote for her for President.

  19. froggy546

Oprah fell becuase she is liberal and racist. Judge Judy rises because she calls em like she sees them-same as great Americans. What is right is right and what is wrong is wrong. This country is being lead by someone that believes the opposite and we are fed up wil liberals. You go Judge Judy.

  20. DJ03

Its obvious that with more people out of work the are not going to waste their time watching Oprah. They are going to seek out the sound legal counsel that is Judge Judy.
