CRACK THE CODE WITH NEW “FOX CODES”

Fans Can Access Content for Fall Shows on Mobile Devices

Using Emerging Technology

Starting today, FOX will begin delivering promotional and added show content for FOX fall programming via FOX CODES. Also known as QR codes, or quick response codes, the two-dimensional bar codes offer a unique way for fans to get information on the go about FOX shows by using their camera-enabled, internet-ready smartphones. After scanning the FOX CODE using a free downloadable QR code scanner such as the “QR Scanner” app for iPhones and the “Mobiletag Barcode Reader” app for all smartphones, users will be automatically taken to a mobile-friendly destination hosting insider content, videos, first-look photos, show secrets, behind-the-scenes footage or exclusive cast interviews – appearing instantly on mobile devices.

The FOX CODES mobile campaign launches with content-rich mobile sites for LONE STAR, FRINGE and Glee, and leading up to their fall premieres, each FOX series will be represented with a FOX CODE. As the campaign unfolds, FOX CODES will surface in various forms of FOX media – from outdoor to print and on-air to online – delivering unique content on an ongoing basis and adding to the show experience for viewers and mobile users.

Follow these easy steps to access the FOX CODE experience:

  1. Access the QR scanner on your smartphone:

NOTE: If you don’t have a QR scanner, download a free application from your smartphone’s “app store.”

  1. When a FOX CODE is visible, launch your QR scanner application and aim the smartphone’s camera at the FOX CODE.
  2. The FOX CODE will automatically transport you to the mobile experience.

Below are the FOX CODES for LONE STAR, FRINGE and Glee:

[EDITOR’S NOTE: To access the content associated with the FOX CODES, download a QR code scanner app such as “QR Scanner” app for iPhones (Click Here) and the “Mobiletag Barcode Reader” app for all smartphones (Click Here). 1. Anything for HTC Desire?

  2. Qr codes should work on that phone, yes!

I would hope that Fox would give consideration to making these designer codes! -qrarts

I know they have QR code readers for Apple OS, Android, and Palm OS. Not sure about Windows Mobile, however.

  4. ScanLife has an app for every OS – including Windows. Just go to getscanlife.com from your phone.

  5. Great article! Truly a brilliant use of QR codes…
Anyone can obtain the best free reader for their device by entering:
    getreader.com
into the browser of their mobile. A self-detecting utility will identify and download the best free reader for your device.

Fox should use ScanNap, the world's first “web-enabled” cocktail napkin, to digitally deliver this promotion into nightclubs all over North America. Check out the Scan-Nap from Napkins-Only:

  6. The codes work well, and the micro-sites have a good selection of fan-oriented videos (slightly distorted — too narrow — on my iPhone, but otherwise OK). However, the engagement ends at playing videos and reading summaries. To see how much more can and should be done, check out Warbasse Design (http://www.warbassedesign.com) and their Iron Man 2 campaign.

  7. If you have a QR Code on your business card, your contacts don't have to type your website in their smartphone.

I have the HTC Droid Eris and I use my “Shop Savy” App; it works :)

For my PC, I use the bar capture from http://www.jaxo-systems.com. It gives me the code and can see the content in my browser.
