OSCAR® WINNERS TO PREMIERE ON SHOWTIME®

“Inglourious Basterds” To Debut on August 14th; “The Hurt Locker” To Lead Into Season 5 Premiere of “Dexter” On SHOWTIME

This fall, 2009 Best Picture Oscar® winner “The Hurt Locker” will have its premium television premiere on SHOWTIME on Saturday, September 25th at 8PM ET/PT and replay on Sunday, September 26th at 6:50PM ET/PT as a lead-in to the highly-anticipated fifth season premiere of the hit series Dexter at 9PM ET/PT.  Additionally, SHOWTIME will offer the premium television premiere of “Inglourious Basterds” on Sunday, August 14th at 8PM.

“Inglourious Basterds” is director Quentin Tarantino’s highest-grossing film to date and received multiple Academy Award® nominations this year, including Best Motion Picture of the Year and Best Achievement in Directing.  It also won for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role, for Christoph Waltz’s role as “Col. Hans Landa.”  In addition to winning this year’s Best Picture Oscar®, “The Hurt Locker” was directed by Kathryn Bigelow (who won the Oscar® for Best Achievement in Directing) and the screenplay was written by Mark Boal (Oscar® winner for Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen), a freelance writer who was embedded as a journalist in 2004 with a U.S. bomb squad in Iraq.

Returning for a riveting fifth season, Dexter picks up immediately after the brutal death of Dexter Morgan’s (Michael C. Hall) wife Rita (Julie Benz) at the hands of the Infamous Trinity Killer (John Lithgow).  DEXTER is the recent recipient of seven Primetime Emmy Award® nominations including Outstanding Television Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for Michael C. Hall and Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for John Lithgow.  DEXTER stars Michael C. Hall (Golden Globe® and SAG® Award winner), Jennifer Carpenter, Desmond Harrington, C.S. Lee, Lauren Vélez, David Zayas, and James Remar.
