Tuesday night's Rangers 4-3 victory over the New York Yankees produced the team's all-time highest local televisionever on FOX Sports Southwest, according to Nielsen Media Research. The game averaged an 8.0 household rating in Dallas-Fort Worth, shattering the team's previous record of 6.9 set on Sept. 16, 1998 vs. Anaheim. It also was the No. 1 rated program in the market on Tuesday.
An average of 204,000 Dallas-Fort Worth homes watched Tuesday's extra-inning victory that improved the Rangers' lead in the A.L. West to 8 ½ games over the Los Angeles Angels. The telecast peaked with an 11.0 rating (281,000 homes) from 10:00-10:15 p.m., and averaged a 10.7 rating (271,000 homes) from 10:00-10:30 p.m.
Since the All-Star break, Rangers games on FOX Sports Southwest are averaging a 5.4 rating, more than doubling the season's first-half 2.6 average. Tuesday night's record rating pushed the Rangers' season average to 3.3, a 23% improvement over last year at this point of the season.
