ABC Family's newest series, Melissa & Joey premiered to 2.2 million viewers overall and 1.3 million adults 18-49.  That's a 1.0 18-49 rating and a record in that demo for a debut of an ABC Family original.

ABC Family’s newest original series, “Melissa & Joey,” launched as the net’s No. 1 series premiere ever in Adults 18-49 (1.26 million) and No. 2 in Women 18-49 (902,000), just slightly behind June’s “Huge” debut (912,000).

Moreover, “Melissa & Joey” stood as the net’s most-watched comedy debut on record in Total Viewers (2.15 million), target 18-49 demos, Adults 18-34 (712,000), Women 18-34 (501,000) and Viewers 12-34 (1.00 million).

  • “Melissa & Joey” was easily cable’s No. 1 program in the time slot among core 18-49 and 18-34 demos, Viewers 12-34 and Females 12-34 (775,000).
  • “Melissa & Joey” catapulted over year-ago time period levels (8/18/09), jumping by 75% in Total Viewers (2.15 million vs. 1.23 million), by 123% in Adults 18-34 (712,000 vs. 319,000), by 98% in Women 18-34 (501,000 vs. 253,000), by 159% in Adults 18-49 (1.26 million vs. 487,000), by 136% in Women 18-49 (902,000 vs. 383,000), by 26% in Viewers 12-34 (1.00 million vs. 797,000) and by 15% in Females 12-34 (775,000 vs. 673,000).
