Continuing our hour by hour coverage of the fall schedule, we move to Friday nights at 9pm. A scripted content lover's delight with four scripted shows, the new Body of Proof, the new-ish The Good Guys, plus veterans CSI: New York and Supernatural with both of the veterans moving to a new day. Dateline NBC is the only unscripted show this hour.
Friday Nights 9pm-10pm:
|Body of Proof New|
|The Good Guys New-ish|
This hour starts out the season with four original scripted shows schedule, but has no chance at finishing the season with that many. I'm not worried about CSI: NY and Supernatural not staying on the schedule, but The Good Guys was only planned by FOX as something for fall Fridays and people are already guessing it will get pulled during November sweeps. It has been very low-rated in its summer run, averaging a 1.4 rating with adults 18-49 on Mondays this summer and that's including a week's worth of DVR viewing where available.
I'm as big of a Jeri Ryan fanboy as the next guy who's staying home to watch TV on a Friday night, but I'm not optimistic for Body of Proof either. That has nothing to do with the show or the network it's on, I'm just pessimistic about the odds of success for any scripted show launching on Friday. But for every rule, there's the exception that proves it, and perhaps that will be the case with Body of Proof.
I have CSI: NY winning with adults 18-49 (and total viewers, too), but look for Dateline to get some wins depending on what Dateline's topic is. The rest of the adults 18-49 race is up for grabs, and this could be another hour where CW doesn't have to settle for last place, at least until FOX and ABC change their schedules.
Next Friday (August 27) I’ll cover Friday from 10pm-11pm. Sunday (August 22) I’ll cover Sunday at 8pm. In a couple of more weeks, every hour of the schedule will be covered. You can find all the hour-by-hour coverage here.
