While steady with viewers at 5.5 million, "Jersey Shore" tied series highs with a 2.8 adults 18-49 rating, obliterating everything on cable Thursday night.  "Burn Notice" & "Royal Pains" were down very slightly with viewers to 5.5 million and 5.3 million respectively.

"American Chopper Junior vs. Senior" was down nearly 200,000 viewers from its premiere to 2.6 million viewers.

Look for more cable ratings (plus more detail on these ratings) later today.

I find it so disheartening that shows I love routinely get less viewers than the likes of Jersey Shore. I have never seen the appeal of it or had any desire to watch whatsoever, but apparently many others of my generation disagree. To each his own (or maybe no accounting for taste?).

Jersey Shore continues to own everything on Thursday nights. Man, NBC would love to have those numbers right now. What MTV should do is air the uncensored version of the episodes on Epix. Something that CBS does with Big Brother on Showtime.

“Dude, we got grenades, this is a grenade free zone”

This is becoming more and more sad with the Jersey Shore. Almost a 3.0 for MTV?

Watched the last part of “Jersey Shore” last week for the first time ever and it’s now in my rear view mirror and receding, forever. “Burn Notice” was EXCELLENT! Networks would love to get BN too.

  6. It’s becoming more and more apparent that viewers love their television really (obnoxiously) dumbed down. There’s just no other explanation for 5.5 million people to actually watch Jersey Shore.

On the other hand, Royal Pains has been excellent this season. Last night’s episode had some awesome guest stars, fanastic writing and was a great lead-in to the mid-season finale next week. The show has really found its legs and I’ll miss it during the hiatus.

The dumbing down of America continues…

  12. Not worried about Jersey Shore that show is waiting for the fad bomb to sit on them. I’d give it one more season before that show dies out.

  13. Well, if you’re from that general area of New Jersey or New York, I’m sure you’ll have a sliver of a chance. Otherwise, nope.

  14. God damn… 5.5 million viewers for J-shore? That is ridiculous.

I make sure not to miss an episode (I usually catch the repeat later on in the night), but to think that 5.5 million people are watching 1 one-hour show about 8 people partying and drinking 24/7 is amazing.

As much as I know the show is totally pointless and doesn’t offer much of anything of value or substance, it’s still hilarious to watch. I don’t even care for the girls in the house… none of them are really my type, but the guys are funny to watch when they go clubbing and constantly run into grenades and have to fight them off.

I don’t watch Jersey shore, but I spent twenty years sharing a summer house on FI and yeah, they shoulda had cameras there…

NBC would kill for Burn Notice, White Collar, Royal Pains, Covert Affairs – ironic! These USA shows on broadcast would easily double their ratings with exposure to slugs that only watch broadcast.

    Which one?

Don’t think so. With ratings in the range of 1.5-2.0, NBC will still be in the same situation it is now. When Psych and Monk got their way into broadcast tv, their ratings weren’t so much better than their cable’s.

    Jersey SNORE

I think they’re going to lose ratings if they keep on focusing on Ronnie and Sammi. Those two suck and no one gives a crap about their relationship. They need to focus more on The Situation and Pauly D. They’re the stars of the show. And Angelina, she seems pretty cool. But, enough with the relationship garbage.
