Variety Declares Fox “No Brainer” Pick to Win 2010-11 Season

I've been looking at the fall 2010 schedule on an hour-by-hour basis, but Variety is taking a network by network look, or at least a look at Fox.

Variety is not optimistic about Fox's new live action comedies or Friday nights, but on the strength of returning hits, the World Series and the Super Bowl, declares Fox a no brainer pick to repeat as adults 18-49 champion.    The most amazing thing about Rick Kissell's piece (some might say, the best thing about it) is that it hardly mentions American Idol at all and doesn't get into any discussion of the ratings impact of new judges.

Many (though not us) are already predicting that "Idol" will suffer massive ratings erosion (as opposed to the fairly consistent 10 percentage-ish year over year drops it has seen in the past) and will lose its #1 ranking either in the coming season or next season. But it looks like Variety's Kissell is not worried about that happening this season.
