Fall 2010 TV Schedule: Sunday at 8pm: NFL vs. Animation Domination vs. ‘The Amazing Race’
The Simpsons returns for its 22nd season and along with the sophomore season of The Cleveland show will face off against The Amazing Race, NFL action and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
Sunday Nights 8pm-9pm:
|Extreme Makeover: Home Edition|
|The Amazing Race|
|The Simpsons||The Cleveland Show|
|Football Night in America||Sunday Night Football|
A big factor for this hour (though not as big of a factor as it is at 7pm) is which network, FOX or CBS, has the national doubleheader NFL game and how much of that game runs over into the 7pm hour on the east coast and pushes the schedule. Also, look for Major League baseball playoff and World Series action to bump FOX’s animation domination a time or two in October.
With the Sunday Night Football action not starting until about 8:20 ET, look for the Simpsons to be a strong second with adults 18-49 between 8-8:30p, and for The Cleveland Show, Extreme Makeover and The Amazing Race to duke it out for second place with adults 18-49 from 8:30p-9pm, though The Cleveland Show should easily capture second with the more youthful adults 18-34.
Who Wins? ~40 minutes of NFL action is more than enough for NBC to easily win the hour — unless there is an overtime game in the afternoon national double-header that pushes into the 8pm hour on the east coast.
Next Sunday (August 29) I’ll cover Sunday from 9pm-10pm, tomorrow (Monday, August 23) I’ll cover Monday at 9pm. In a couple more weeks, every hour of the schedule will be covered. You can find all the hour-by-hour coverage here.
