New York, NY – August 26, 2010 – Fantasy hair channels sexy, creatures of the night on an all-new episode of “Hair Battle Spectacular” on Tuesday, August 31 at 10pm ET/PT. Fantasy hair connoisseur Jason Griggers offers his expertise as this week’s guest judge. Also on Tuesday, August 31 at 9:30pm ET/PT, contestants Fingaz and Tsunami will dish on behind-the-scenes drama and host a live chat for fans on www.oxygenlive.com, with Fingaz hosting on the East Coast and Tsunami hosting on the West Coast. They will give viewers the inside scoop on the battles as the episode airs live on both coasts.
This week, the “Check Up From the Neck Up” tests the designers’ barber skills and introduces male models to the competition for the first time. For some designers, this proves to be a challenge, as their barber skills are not up to par. Will Derek J give his vote to the most technically precise design or will creativity rule supreme?
The competition revs up with this week’s “Glam Slam” challenge. The stylists must create a design inspired by a pop culture phenomenon – vampires. These designs must tell a story in two-parts, as illustrated by a front and back creation. Tune-in to find out which contestants will win the judges over with their story and which ones will leave the judges confused.
Oxygen continues with its groundbreaking real time destination, OxygenLive.com, as a companion to every one of its original series. OxygenLive provides a two-screen experience in which fans can socialize, interact and react in real time through a live chat, on Facebook and Twitter while the show airs. Stylists Fingaz and Tsunami will be hosting the chat and interacting with fans.
For viewers who no longer want to wait until the next morning to chat around the water cooler about the latest “Hair Battle Spectacular” challenges, fans can join the hair battle ring at http://hair-battle-spectacular.oxygen.com/ through their computers or mobile devices (wap.oxygen.com) for the official scoop on the contestants, host and judges. The site will feature blogs, photo galleries and videos from the series, including bonus footage with extended elimination interviews.
Hosted by actress Brooke Burns, “Hair Battle Spectacular” pits 10 of America’s hottest stylists against each other to see who can deliver the biggest and best in fantasy hair design. Part sculpture and part pop art, each challenge requires contestants to create outrageous coifs that resemble everything from multi-layer wedding cakes to toys with moveable pieces. The stylists then enter the ring to present their hair creations in a fully produced, dramatic and stylized performance. After each challenge, the judges — award-winning fantasy hair designer Derek J, celebrity stylist Lindsay Albanese and a rotating guest judge — critique the designers on creativity, execution and overall presentation. In addition to blow-by-blow drama in the arena, there is also the day-to-day drama between the cohabitating stylists who fight each week to stay in the game and win the ultimate prize of $100,000.
“Hair Battle Spectacular” is produced by 3 Ball Productions with JD Roth, Todd Nelson, Adam Greener, and Mike Nichols serving as executive producers.
