CBS Wins Thursday in Viewers and Demos

Last night's live double eviction gave BIG BROTHER its largest audience since 2008 and was the top program of the night in viewers and key demographics, according to Nielsen preliminary live plus same day ratings for Thursday, Aug. 26.

BIG BROTHER THURSDAY was first in households (4.8/09), viewers (8.18m), adults 25-54 (3.2/10), adults 18-49 (2.7/10) and adults 18-34 (2.4/09).  This is BIG BROTHER's best delivery in households on any night since Sept. 15, 2009 (BIG BROTHER 11 finale) and its largest audience in viewers since April 13, 2008 (BIG BROTHER 9).

Compared to the same night last year, BIG BROTHER THURSDAY was up +9% in adults 18-34 (from 2.2/08), even in adults 18-49 and added +380,000 viewers (from 7.80m, +5%).  BIG BROTHER THURSDAY was the night's top program in households, viewers, adults 25-54, adults 18-49 and adults 18-34.

For the night, CBS was first in households (4.5/08), viewers (7.27m), adults 25-54 (2.4/06) and adults 18-49 (1.9/06).

(Editor's Note: CBS had preemptions/delays in 2.1% of the U.S. due to New England Patriots' pre-season football in Boston.  Ratings and all time period rankings are tentative and subject to change.)

Updated Thursday ratings will be available this afternoon.

Ya Big Brother.. Best Reality Summer TV Ever.. Pure Trash and I love it!

  2. with these numbers cbs should consider bb for its winter line up… maybe even give bb a saturday timeslot…bbfans will follow big brother whichever path they take

There’s absolutely no way CBS can make accommodations for BB in the regular season. It does fine enough in the summer and the game requires a three-night-per-week setup, which automatically prevents it from working in the regular season. Like I said yesterday, it’s obvious that CBS execs love this show since they’re airing the finale after the Survivor premiere.
