HBO has renewed Hung for a third season of 10 episodes.   The show has been a modest performer for HBO and was no doubt helped out by having ratings superstar True Blood as its lead-in.

I have watched the first two seasons and I won’t be watching anymore. It’s a snooze fest I’m afraid. And the characters are annoying. Sorry HBO.

I only watched season 1 on DVD via a rental and haven’t seen season 2 yet, but have heard really mixed opinions about it. I think they need to get Natalie Zea back for another guest apperances. She and Tom Jane had so much fire and sparks in their 4 episode arc in season 1.

Glad to see it come back – I loved season 1 – season 2 has been good with the new “Janes,” but I don’t want to see Ray get back together with Anne Heche. She was introduced to us as being a horrible person, and her motives with her second husband were shown to be financial, in part. I was hoping that the scenario with the neighbor and his wife would play out so we could see Ray benefit more from – and enjoy – the collapse of the marriage. I was feeling Ray should end up with the pregnant client, and should always be friends with Claire. Claire having a pimp advisor was great – Claire sleeping with the pimp advisor – not much fun.

    Dream on…Oh, you’re serious.

They should do a client of the week. Special guests could come on, like Jennifer Aniston, Katherine Heigl and Christina Hendricks. It’ll be like a sitcom, but with nudity.

I really want to like this show, but I just haven’t been able to get into it. I’m still laboring through season one on my DVR while Season 2 is piling up.

HBO went from having such strict standards when it came to the quality and ratings of its shows and canceling some of its best ones like Deadwood, Rome and Carnivale to now where they renew everything. Shows like How to Make it in America suck and gets bad ratings yet they still renew it. Hung is a great concept for an HBO comedy but the writing is so dull and the ratings are only decent because of True Blood. another example is Bored to Death, bad ratings and bad show yet gets renewed. people pay a lot of money for HBO so they need to cancel a lot of these crap shows and spend the money on making the best shows on TV like they used to. Luckily they have Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones coming up to make up for some of the crap they’ve been making.

I do think it hurts HBO’s brand to keep crappy sitcoms nobody cares about on the air. But there’s a huge difference between “Hung” and “Bored to Death,” on the one side, and “Deadwood,” “Rome,” and “Carnivale” on the other. Big, cinematic shows with ensemble casts and exotic settings cost a lot of money, which raises the bar for renewal. I’ve never watched a full episode of “Hung,” but what little I have watched screamed cheap.

And for the record, no one is more bitter than me about the cancellation of “Deadwood.” I just wanted to get that out there.

  13. Good stuff. I watched it halfheartedly and I half enjoyed it, but these last two episodes were really good.

This is quite possibly the WORST show HBO has ever produced.

It had the ability to be very funny and raunchy but the writers make it very boring and give way too much plot and airtime to his annoying kids and his female “pimps”.

HBO cancels the good shows like Deadwood, Rome, and Carnivale and then renews tripe like this for multiple seasons.
