i just hope that the DAYS ratings don’t go anymore down. Gh has already started getting better ratings. I would go crazy if i lost my favorite soap next year
I find the ratings system very antiquated. I do not believe that a show can gain 254,000 one week and then lose that same number the following week. I know that with the end of summer vacations are being taken but this doesn’t make sense. I also can guarantee that more than 5 million people watch “YandR’ in this entire country. They need to find a more modern system than the Nielsen.
You can guarantee that more than 5 million people watch Y&R? I’m sorry, but I have a hard time believing that. I mean there are NUMEROUS channels to choose from throughout the day, and many people work during the days now. Honestly, I’m surprised that soap operas are still on to this day. I give it 5-10 years, at most, until they are all gone.
Let’s see if the “new direction” Days goes this Fall helps anything.
I hope OLTL improves this fall with the big returns of Kim Zimmer and Roger Howarth!
I think that these numbers are about right. You have to remember that SOAPnet airs every one of these shows except The Bold and the Beautiful I believe, and they air each episode 5 or so times throughout the week, plus there’s online viewing. I know that I catch the soaps on the internet 75% of the time.
Taking that into account I’d say it’s not too far off to say that GH has 4 million fans, Y&R about 6.3 million and so on.
I think it is great to see ATWT moving up in the list of rankings for total viewers during its final weeks. I can understand why the 18-49 numbers are low. They are really focusing on the older cast in the final days and I can see that as a good thing as it draws to a close.
