Sunday Cable Ratings: The Glades Down a Little; Rubicon, Mad Men Moreso

Categories: '

Looks like True Blood might have had the right idea with taking the Sunday of a holiday weekend off.   As we posted about yesterday, Leverage was up but the other scripted originals were down a bit.  The Glades was only off a tenth with adults 18-49 (and actually higher with total viewers) but the best episode of Mad Men of the season and definitely one of the best episodes of the series was down two-tenths with adults 18-49 vs. the previous week.

Rubicon was also down two tenths, but when that knocks you back down to a 0.2 rating, that's no fun.

Much, much more detail on selected Sunday cable final ratings via Travis Yanan:

  1. Still positive news aboiut The Glades despite the drop and sure hope A&E renews this show !

  2. Rubicon get a 2nd season? I know it’s ratings don’t warrant it but AMC has not dealt with failure yet. They might stick with it? I’d like for this show to live on but I have to admit that it’s really flying under people’s radars. No buzz at all.

HBO knows how to schedule it’s hits. AMC, not so much. They should have taken off this week or even Emmy’s week. Now the season finale’s of Mad Men and Rubicon will be on 10/17 instead of 10/24 to lead into the Walking Dead on 10/31. That would have made more sense. Also AMC has nothing planned for spring and both Breaking Bad and Mad Men planned for summer. Strange.

It’s hard to feel optimistic about Rubicon’s future. Not only are these ratings on par with Damages but it’s also not a show I see being able to build an audience. There’s just not a whole lot there that’ll get people talking. Plus, I’m not sure there’s much of a chance of it getting Emmy recognition either. Not good.

Also, wow does The Spin Crowd drop steeply from Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Anybody know if E! has had any show perform decently after it? If I’m not mistaken, Reality Hell, which I kinda liked, also failed following it. Or maybe that was Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami.

They have picked “The Killing” (which will actually change name) almost a month ago, so I guess that it’s what they want to fill the spring slot with.

A&E will renew The Glades, it is just when rather than if. They aren’t as trigger happy with renewal compared to USA and TNT,

  12. Catalina

Swamp People continues to do very well in the 18-49 demo. Right behind Kardashians.

The Glades keeps getting a little better week by week. The lead Matt Passmore will have a job from this point on as he’s a great leading man.

  16. I agree .. I think both Passmore and Sanchez are keeping this series alive. Jim & Callie are bring the HEAT to this show !!

  19. Rubicon is still keeping me interested for some reason. Guess I am part of the 0.2.
