CW continues its early* season premieres Thursday night with last year's ratings savior Vampire Diaries (8pm) and the new Nikita (9pm) (*2 weeks before the official start of the "season").
How will they do in the ratings?
On Thursday September 10, 2009, the CW had the series premiere of Vampire Diaries which scored a 2.1 rating for adults 18-49, a 2.2 rating for adults 18-34 and a 3.0 rating for the CW target women 18-34 demo. Champagne corks popped at the CW. By the spring, Vampire Diaries was averaging about a 1.6 adults 18-49 rating, and proportionally lower ratings in the other demos.
On the same night the season premiere of Supernatural drew a 1.4 rating for adults 18-49, a 1.5 rating for adults 18-34 and a 1.7 rating for the CW target women 18-34 demo. By the spring, Supernatural was averaging about a 1.2 adults 18-49 rating.
There were no other new scripted shows on broadcast that night, but the Thursday season premiere of Sunday Night Football sucked up a huge chunk of the ratings.
Like last year, Sunday Night Football kicks off tonight with the Vikings vs. the Saints, a very good pre-game matchup for ratings. The only other new shows on broadcast TV tonight are Big Brother and the 2 hour season finale of ABC's Rookie Blue.
How do you think Vampire Diaries and Nikita will do?

I think The Vampire Diaries will hold up welll, it won’t likely match its series premiere ratings but still solid ratings for CW. Nikita’s premiere will receive some ratings afterglow from TVD.The Vampire Diaries18-49 – 1.918-34 – 2.0W18-34 – 2.93.5 million viewersNikita18-49 – 1.418-34 – 1.6W18-34 – 2.1 2.7 million viewers

Excited for the return of TVD and will be trying out Nikita as well because the previews look good! No idea on ratings…I’ll say on par with what TVD did last year (cop out, yeah, but I’m bad with these things).
Vampire Diaries will have a solid 4 millions viewers I think, especially with the early premiere. Nikita will definitely benefit from that but I expect a drop off. My guilty pleasure of last year was Vampire Diaries for me and the reviews have been pretty well received for Nikita. Will be watching both.

i think TVD will set a series high with 5 million viewers and a 2.1 in the demo
expect Nikita to do 3.8 and a 1.5 in the demo

i want to believe that the vampire diaries will come back stronger than ever cause there’s lots of great buzz about it and it ended with an awesome and talked-about finale. but whenever i start to think that a show on the CW will get good ratings cause of the great spotlight it’s had, it disappoints. i hope i’m wrong, but i’ll say that it’ll return with good, but not series-high, ratings of 3.7-4.0 million viewers and 1.7-1.9 in 18-49. nikita will do well, but get a little lower (around 3.0-3.5 million viewers and 1.3-1.6 in 18-49).

and if Nikita loses viewers from TVD, which I highly doubt given both the show’s promotion (I rarely use that word when its relating to The CW) then:
