“Nightline” Bests “Letterman” 21 Consecutive Weeks In Total Viewers—First Time In 11 Years

Nightline” BESTS “LETTERMAN” 21 CONSECUTIVE WEEKS IN TOTAL VIEWERS—FIRST TIME IN 11 YEARS

Nightline” GROWS WEEK TO WEEK IN TOTAL VIEWERS AND A25-54

For the 21st consecutive week, ABC News “Nightline” outperformed CBS’ “Late Show with David Letterman” among Total Viewers, posting 3.50 million to “Letterman’s” 2.96 million, according to Nielsen Media Research. The last time this happened was in 1999. Also for the week of August 30, 2010 “Nightline” was the number two program among A25-54, A18-49 and Total Viewers. Week to week, “Nightline” grew +4% among A25-54, and +5% among Total Viewers.

Additionally, ABC News “Nightline” continues to rank first for the full 2009-2010 season-to-date with 3.72 million Total Viewers, outperforming CBS’ “Late Show with David Letterman” and NBC’s “Tonight Show.”

The weekly averages for “Nightline” and “Letterman” were based on four days only.

ABC News’ “Nightline” is anchored by Cynthia McFadden, Terry Moran and Bill Weir. John Donvan and Vicki Mabrey are correspondents. James Goldston is the executive producer. The program airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m., ET on the ABC Television Network.
