MediaWeek reports that according to media buyers TBS is asking for $80,000-$90,000 for a 30-second spot in the ALDS and NLDS (division series for both leagues), and between $125,000 and $150,000 for spots in the ALCS (American League Championship series).
TBS will cross its fingers that the Yankees are in the ALCS (and Fox execs will pray that the Yankees win and make it to thewhich will air on Fox).
But even more important than the match-ups are how long the series last.
Last year, three out of the four division series were sweeps going the minimum of three games (best three out of five) and between all the division series and NLCS (which only went five games out of a possible 7) TBS only wound up with 18 games out of a maximum of 28 it could have had, including the Tigers/Twins tiebreaker to see who won the Central division.
The previous year (2008) TBS squeezed 22 games out, including an ALCS between the Boston Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays that went all 7 games. Last year TBS averaged 5.15 million per game vs. 5.38 million in 2008.
However many games TBS will get this year, prepare for the onslaught ofpromos.
