ABC has to be feeling pretty good, with both CBS & NBC at least content for a day. Over at Fox it's more "oh my!" and not in a good way.
ABC won the night with adults 18-49 and total viewers with bothand up 22% in adults 18-49 vs. last year's premiere. DWTS averaged a 5.0 rating between 8p-10p. Any overrun for will cause later adjustments for in the finals.
CBS was in second withup 7% vs. last year, but other than which was up 0.1 vs. last year's premieres preliminary adults 18-49, the rest of the lineup was a bit down from last year. was down .1 with adults 18-49 vs. last year's premiere of Accidentally on Purpose. Mike & with a 3.9 was down 0.7 with adults 18-49 vs. last year's preliminary 4.6 rating for but I'm not sure CBS could've hoped for more there. It might have hoped for better with which was down more than 10% from last year's premiere of : Miami with adults 18-49 (3.8 vs. 4.3). Still, Mike & and were the top new performers with adults 18-49.
NBC was in third place with adults 18-49 with Chuck coming in where NBC had to figure it would, with a 2.1 rating.premiered to a 3.7, and while NBC and fans might have hoped for a bit better, it could've been worse. It was NBC's best non-olympic performance in the time slot since February 2, 2009 and it rose from a 3.5 rating with adults 18-49 in the first half hour to a 3.9 in the second half hour. Chase's 2.5 rating with adults 18-49 also could've been much worse. Of course, we'll have to see what happens next week and thereafter.
The news was much worse for FOX wherewas down big with adults 18-49 vs. last year's 8pm hour (4.6 vs. 6.2) and Lone Star crawled out of the gate dead on arrival with a 1.3 adults 18-49 rating.
Over on the CW,was up 25% from last week's premiere with women 18-34 to a 2.5/6 and was up 7% with adults 18-34.

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a
Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.
Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)
Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.
