NBC Network : -$600 million

easy to explain, USA runs on almost nothing. Very little original programming, meaning less expensive. Plus, it receives money from every cable subscriber in the country.
NBC on the other hand:
Gives ad time to affiliates
Spends millions on programming (almost all original)
Has no “Subscribers” to get money from.

And for the record these numbers are why all the people who bemoan Jeff Zucker on the basis of NBC’s performance alone are idiots who need to take a step back and look at the bigger picture.

WONDER HOW TIME WARNER COMPARES
Given a similar analysis of Disney and News Corp TV properties, my guess is that the numbers would be in the same ballparks. Perhaps not negative for ABC Network, but certainly ESPN would be by far the most valuable part of the Disney television empire.
Either idiots, or so focused on their personal objective (fans, the broadcast shows I want to watch), Hollywood (employment on broadcast primetime shows) that they behave idiotically.

I believe HBO is the most lucrative part of Time Warner’s TV properties. Just goes to show how much subscriber fees are worth.

I would venture a guess that Time Warner’s top cable nets (TBS and TNT) are in the $5-10 billion valuation range looking just at that USA valuation.

Julia is probably correct, but I couldn’t even hazard a guess as to HBO’s value.

Those cable networks were already profitable before Zucker took over NBC Universal; I don’t see any reason to give him credit for not getting in the way of networks whose profits were already trending upward. It’s easy to blame him for what happened at NBC broadcast because he was directly in charge of NBC when it began its collapse.
