Yes! No surprise at all, though last year FX made us wait until just after the end of the second season before announcing the third. But Sons of Anarchy has been renewed for a fourth season of 13 episodes before the third season even aired its sixth episode.

Eight all-new episodes remain in SOA’s current third season airing Tuesdays at 10pm et/pt, and beginning in two weeks the encore runs will air Tuesdays at 11pm and 1am, Fridays at 10pm and Sundays at 10pm. The third season finale will air on Tuesday, November 30.

On a first-run, primary telecast basis, Sons averages 4.9 million Total Viewers and 3.4 million Adults 18-49. It is the highest rated series ever for FX.
“Sons of Anarchy is the most popular show FX has ever had, and the #1 series in basic cable for our key demographic. It is also one of the best, most original series on television,” said Landgraf. “FX is grateful to Kurt Sutter and his team of writers, actors, directors and crew for working so hard to make a show that achieves both those levels of success. We congratulate them and look forward to season four.”
In the next episode of Sons of Anarchy (“The Push,” October 12, 10pm et/pt), the Sons of Anarchy must handle a rat at St. Thomas to protect their territory.
Sons of Anarchy was created by Kurt Sutter who also serves as Executive Producer along with John and Art Linson. The series is produced by FX Productions and Fox 21. Fox 21 is Twentieth Century Fox Television’s alternative production arm devoted to producing high quality programming on a lower cost basis.
FX is the flagship general entertainment basic cable network from Fox. Launched in June of 1994, FX is carried in more than 96 million homes. The diverse schedule includes a growing roster of distinctive original series and films, an established film library with box-office hit movies from 20th Century Fox and other major studios that run in prime time and an impressive lineup of acquired hit series.
