ABC POSTS HIGHEST TOTAL VIEWER GROWTH WEEK TO WEEK
“GMA” CUTS DEMO GAP WITH NBC WEEK TO WEEK,
AND TOTAL VIEWING GAP WITH NBC WEEK TO WEEK AND YEAR TO YEAR
“GMA” EXPANDS DEMO ADVANTAGE OVER CBS WEEK TO WEEK;
ALSO INCREASES TOTAL VIEWING ADVANTAGE WEEK TO WEEK AND YEAR TO YEAR
For the week of September 27h, ABC’s “Good Morning America” averaged 4.170 million Total Viewers and a 1.3/10 among Adults 25-54. The program also posted its best demo and total viewing deliveries since June.
“GMA” was the only program to display Adult 25-54 demo growth (+20,000) among the three morning programs versus the week prior. Both NBC’s “Today” and CBS’ “Early Show” declined in the demo. In addition, “GMA” grew the most in Total Viewers (+5%) among the morning programs versus the week prior. Once again, “GMA” was the only program to grow in Total Viewers (+2%) versus the same week last year.
“GMA” narrowed the weekly demo gap with “Today” by -6%. “GMA” also shrank the total viewing gap with “Today” by -16% week to week and -14% year to year. This marks the smallest weekly total viewing gap between ABC and NBC since August.
Additionally, ABC’s demo (630,000) lead over “Early Show” was +5% larger versus the previous week. “GMA’s” total viewing (1,680,000) lead over “Early Show” was +22% larger versus the previous week and +18% larger versus the same week last year.
The Emmy Award-winning morning news program, featuring the anchor team of Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, Sam Champion and Juju Chang, airs live Monday through Friday from 7:00-9:00 a.m., ET on the ABC Television Network. Jim Murphy is the senior executive producer and Tom Cibrowski is the executive producer of ABC’s “Good Morning America.”
