1.6 Million Viewers Watched the Premiere of BET’s New Reality Series BEING TERRY KENNEDY
NEW YORK—October 13, 2010—For the past five consecutive years the BET HIP HOP AWARDS has been the #1 hip hop themed telecast on television. Again this year, millions of viewers tuned in to BET on Tuesday, October 12 for the most explosive night on television with the premiere of the BET HIP HOP AWARDS ‘10 at 8:00 p.m.*. This year’s telecast was the #1 HIP HOP AWARDS show in BET history according to Nielsen Media Research with 3.5 million viewers and a 2.5 coverage.
Additionally, the much anticipated premiere of the new reality series BEING TERRY KENNEDY at 10:00 p.m.* also set records as the #1 BET series premiere of 2010 with 1.6 million viewers. This 10 episode series follows the life of professional skateboarder Terry Kennedy as he manages his thriving clothing line, rap career and skateboarding empire.
The BET HIP HOP AWARDS ‘10 and BEING TERRY KENNEDY are the top two BET telecasts of the 2010-11 season with double and triple digit gains posted by both premieres versus CY10 and season-to-date Tuesday time-slot averages.
Taped from the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center in Atlanta, Georgia, the BET HIP HOP AWARDS ‘10 brought out the hottest in the game with performances and appearances by Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, Diddy, Gucci Mane, MC Hammer, Soulja Boy, Digital Underground, Ice Cube, Salt n Pepa, Swizz Beatz, a special Dipset reunion and a performance from web phenom Antoine Dodson.
