'Nightline' No. 1 for the Week in Total Viewers

Nightline” IS NO. 1 FOR THE WEEK IN TOTAL VIEWERS,

A25-54 AND A18-49 FOR TWO CONSECUTIVE WEEKS

ABC News’ “Nightline” is the No. 1 program in Total Viewers (3.98 million), Adults 25-54 (1.68 million), and Adults 18-49 (1.31 million), outperforming CBS’ “Late Show with David Letterman” and NBC’s “The Tonight Show” according to Nielsen Media Research for the week of October 11, 2010. This is the second week in a row “Nightline’ has been the No. 1 program in Total Viewers, Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49. Season to date, “Nightline” also ranks in first place in Total Viewers, A25-54 and A18-49. The last time this happened was during the 1995-96 season.

Week to week, “Nightline” grew the most in Total Viewers (+4%) and also improved among A25-54 (+3%). Nightline’s demo and total viewing leads over “The Late Show” increased +56% and +54%, respectively, versus last week. Nightline’s demo advantage over “The Tonight Show” increased +60% versus last year while the total viewing lead expanded +28% week to week.

ABC News’ “Nightline” is anchored by Cynthia McFadden, Terry Moran and Bill Weir. John Donvan and Vicki Mabrey are correspondents. James Goldston is the executive producer. The program airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m., ET on the ABC Television Network.
