ABC News’ “This Week with Christiane Amanpour” was the No. 2 Sunday morning public affairs program in Adults 25-54 on Sunday, October 17, 2010 according to Nielsen Media Research. “This Week” has placed second in the key A25-54 demographic for 10 out of the past 12 weeks Ms. Amanpour has been anchor.
“This Week” experienced week-to-week growth in Total Viewers (+11%). In addition, “This Week” posted the greatest week-to-week growth in Adults 25-54 (+21%) of all Sunday morning public affairs programs. Among Total Viewers, “This Week” narrowed the week-to-week (-17%) and season-to-date (-33%) gaps with NBC’s “Meet the Press. Among A25-54, “This Week” increased its lead over CBS’ “Face the Nation” by +200% week to week.
On Sunday, “This Week” kicked off the ABC Network’s week-long coverage of Alzheimer’s disease in America and the results of a newly released study on Alzheimer’s, “The Shriver Report: A Woman’s Nation Takes on Alzheimer’s,” with an exclusive interview with the First Lady of California, Maria Shriver, as well as Ann O’Leary, the executive director of the Berkley Center for Health, Economic, and Family Security. Also featured was an exclusive update on the Delaware Senate race featuring Republican candidate Christine O’Donnell and Democratic candidate Chris Coons. Political strategist Matthew Dowd, author of “Dirty, Sexy, Politics,” Meghan McCain, ABC News’ George Will and Terry Moran joined Ms. Amanpour for the roundtable discussion.
Christiane Amanpour is the anchor of “This Week” and Ian Cameron is the executive producer. The program airs Sundays on the ABC Television Network.
