The third week of the broadcast season (October 4-10) saw Modern Family, Parenthood and Hawaii Five-0 top our three different rankings for additions between Same Day and Live+7 Day DVR viewing.
Modern Family lead all shows for adults 18-49 ratings added after airdate via DVR viewing, adding 1.5 adults 18-49 ratings points to their Live+Same Day adults 18-49 ratings.
Parenthood topped the % adults 18-49 ratings increase from DVR viewing, adding 44% to its Live+Same Day adults 18-49 ratings.
Hawaii Five-0 again topped the absolute average viewership gained from DVR viewing, adding 3.13 million average viewers via DVR viewing between the Live+Same Day and Live + 7 day measurement periods.
Don't forget that these Live+7 day program ratings mean nothing to the network advertising revenues or the renewal prospects of your favorite shows that we didn't already know from the Live + Same Day ratings we had more than two weeks ago. If you'd like to learn why, read Network Jedi Mind Tricks: Live+7 Ratings And Your Favorite Show.
Unfortunately, the Jedi Mind Tricks still work on some people.

Definitions:
DVR (Time-shifted) Adults 18-49 Ratings – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data –Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day(Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.
DVR Ratings Increase Past Airdate - How many people watched the show on their DVRs within 7 days following the airdate
% of All Adults 18-49 Viewing By DVR Past Airdate - Of the total viewing of that particular episode, what percentage was done via DVR.
Up until the 2009-2010 season, we used the show's Live program rating or viewership as the base upon which the Live+7 day DVR viewing was added. Now, the press seems to be standardizing around using Live+Same Day DVR viewing as the base for the calculations, so that's what we do now as well.
