World Series Continues FOX Sports’ Primetime Dominance
Network Earns Another Easy Nightly Win Game 3 Jumps +17% in Viewership Compared To ’08
New York, NY – Game 3 of the 2010 World Series earned a 6.7/13 household rating/share (11.5 million viewers) according to fast national ratings released by Nielsen Media Research. That’s a +17% jump in average audience and 10% increase in rating compared to 2008’s Rays-Phillies Game 3 (vs. 9.8 million viewers, 6.1/13).
Saturday night’s special family start time of 6:30 PM ET, the earliest start for a World Series game since 1987, powered the network to its third consecutive primetime win as FOX averaged a 7.3/13 (12.7 million viewers) (8:00 PM – 9:52 PM ET). Last night was FOX’s best average Saturday night rating in over a year.
Through three games, the 2010 World Series is averaging a 8.1/14 (13.7 million viewers), +11% better on viewership and +5% higher on rating when compared to 2008’s non-Yankees World Series (Rays-Phillies, 7.7/14, 12.3 million viewers). Saturday night’s telecast grew steadily throughout the night peaking at an 8.1/15 at 9:30 PM ET as the Texas Rangers won their first game of the series.
San Francisco led all markets with a 30.0/57 for Game 3 followed by Dallas with a 26.9/48. Sacramento continues to act as a third home market with a strong 21.0/39.
