Network press releases constantly tout their shows "winning" this or that. Timeslots, nights, demos, whatever. We always remind folks that those "wins" are pretty much entirely PR events. The networks make their advertising money based on their absolute adults 18-49 ratings, "winning" gains them nothing but good press.
Still, one of the most popular fan bingo card excuses (or laments) for a failing show is "It wins it's timeslot!"
As Dr. Phil might say, "How's that working out for?"
Keep that in mind the next time you read a press release about "winning" or skip past the endless fan comments about the same.
