The King of Queens' Coming To Spike TV in 2011 and TV Land in 2013
NEW YORK, Nov. 16, 2010 -- The hit sitcom, "The King of Queens," will have a new prime-time cable television home at MTV Networks and will start airing on Spike TV beginning in October 2011, it was jointly announced today by John Griffin, senior vice president, programming and acquisitions, Spike TV and Jaclyn Cohen, senior vice president, programming and acquisitions, TV Land, who brokered the deal. The popular series will move to TV Land in 2013.
Spike TV will telecast two back-to-back episodes of "The King of Queens" in primetime twice per week when the network's run begins in October 2011.
"This is such a relatable comedy and we are sure this show will continue to make both networks' audiences laugh for many years to come," said Jaclyn R. Cohen, senior vice president, programming and acquisitions, TV Land, who brokered the deal for Spike and TV Land.
Set in the working-class suburb of Queens, New York, the show follows Doug Heffernan (Kevin James), an amiable deliveryman, and his wife, spitfire legal secretary Carrie Heffernan (Leah Remini), as they explore the everyday challenges of love, life, family and marriage. Doug and Carrie also have to deal with the third, high-maintenance member of the Heffernan household. Carrie's twice-widowed father, Arthur Spooner (Jerry Stiller), lives in their basement. His constant presence and often-bizarre behavior add to their daily adventures. Doug often finds refuge in the little alone time he has with Carrie, best friend and co-worker, Deacon (Victor Williams), buddy Spence (Patton Oswalt) and his cousin Danny (Gary Valentine).
