After airing just 6 of the 13 episodes produced of the already cancelled The, ABC has pulled it off its schedule entirely, choosing to air comedy repeats ( , ) at 10pm Wednesday instead during December.
There are no announced plans for the remaining sevenepisodes, but there could be a Better Off Ted situation where fans hang on every rumor of potential summer scheduling (which never came for Ted's last two episodes).
If you'll allow a look back at our first ABC Renew / Cancel Index post of the season, Colonel Jessup's admonition still holds true:
You can’t handle The! Son, we live in a world where broadcast networks have to make a living. And that living has to be made by selling advertising on their shows. Who’s gonna do it? You? You TWTFan?
ABC has a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for the fans and the cast and you curse ABC. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that there’s only 22 primetime hours in a week. And replacing ratings losers, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, makes money…You don’t want The.
Because deep down, in places you don’t talk about at parties, you want ABC canceling those losers. You want them making shows more people will watch.
