“World News with Diane Sawyer” Delivers Best Demo Audience since February
“World News” Narrows Demo Gap with “Nightly News” by 4% Year to Year
ABC Outperforms CBS by 2.06 Million Total Viewers and 450,000 Adults 25-54
For the week of December 13, 2010, “ABC World News with Diane Sawyer” averaged 8.28 million Total Viewers and a 1.9/7 share/2.33 million among Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research. On Monday (12/13/10) “World News” turned in its most-watched telecast among Total Viewers (9.15 million) in nearly a year – since 1/11/10.

Versus the prior week, “World News” delivered 10,000 additional Adults 25-54, marking the broadcast”s best demo delivery since February. In addition, compared to the year-ago week (w/o 12/14/09), “World News” narrowed the demo gap with “NBC Nightly News” by 4%.
For the week, “World News” outperformed “CBS Evening News” by 2.06 million Total Viewers and by 450,000 Adults 25-54.
Last week “World News” aired several investigations – David Muir took a closer look at 21st Century cheating in higher education, and Chris Cuomo went undercover to take a look the abuse of prescription drugs and the “pill mills” that dispense medications like candy. In addition, Brian Ross investigated the failure of TSA screeners to spot guns in baggage. The broadcast also reported on the school board shooting in Florida and the ongoing controversy surrounding Wikileaks and its founder, Julian Assange. Finally, “World News” also remembered the life of Richard Holbrooke.
