NFL GAMES TOP RATINGS IN 28 MARKETS
CBS National Telecast Most-Watched Show of the Week
Local Ratings: Nine Teams on Record Pace
The CBS national telecast (mostly Jets-Steelers) was the most-watched show among all programs with 25.7 million viewers -- the 15th time in 15 weeks that an NFL game telecast has been television’s most-watched program. Sixteen NFL game telecasts this season have been watched by 25 million viewers, ahead of last year’s total (nine).
NFL games also topped the charts in primetime. Packers-Patriots on NBC’s Sunday Night Football drew 24.2 million viewers – ranking as the week’s most watched primetime show. Bears-Vikings on ESPN’s Monday Night Football ranks as cable’s fourth most-watched show of the year with 17.1 million viewers and also set a local ratings record in Chicago. The Bears’ 40.7 local rating is the highest on record for the team’s regular-season games (since 1998).
Chicago is among nine teams on a record-setting pace for local ratings joining Atlanta, Baltimore, Indianapolis, Minnesota, New England, New York Jets, Pittsburgh and San Diego.
