
Note that our source for Live+7 DVR ratings includes only original, regular programs, excluding both repeats (which are unlikely to be heavily DVR viewed) and "specials". There were only 28 such programs in the list for the week below, so the top 25 is nearly all of them.
The thirteenth week of the broadcast season (December 13-19) saw Criminal Minds, The Big Bang Theoryand Hawaii Five-0 top our different rankings for additions between Same Day (until 3am after the airdate) and Live+7 Day DVR viewing.
That 's hardly surprising, since CBS was the only network to air a nearly full line up of original episodes.
Criminal Minds, Hawaii Five-0 and The Big Bang Theory lead all shows for adults 18-49 ratings added after airdate via DVR viewing, adding 1.1 adults 18-49 ratings points to its Live+Same Day adults 18-49 ratings.
Hawaii Five-0 topped the % adults 18-49 ratings increase from DVR viewing, adding 39% to its Live+Same Day adults 18-49 ratings.
Hawaii Five-0 also topped the absolute average viewership gained from DVR viewing, adding 3,125 million average viewers via DVR viewing between the Live+Same Day and Live + 7 day measurement periods.
These Live+7 day program ratings mean nothing to the network advertising revenues or the renewal prospects of your favorite shows that we didn't already know from the Live + Same Day ratings we had more than two weeks ago. Definitions:
DVR (Time-shifted) Adults 18-49 Ratings – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data –Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day(Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.
DVR Ratings Increase Past Airdate - How many people watched the show on their DVRs within 7 days following the airdate
Until the 2009-2010 season, we used a show's LIVE program rating or viewership as the base upon which the LIVE+7 day DVR viewing was added. Now, the press seems to be standardizing around using LIVE+SAME DAY DVR viewing as the base for the calculations, so that's what we do now as well.
