Australian Open Underway, Nightly Marathons on ESPN2 & ESPN3.com

The Australian Open, tennis’ first Grand Slam of the year, is underway with live nightly marathon sessions on ESPN2 HD plus ESPN3.com’s multi-court offering.  ESPN2 has a record schedule of 124 live hours from Melbourne, plus nearly 50 additional in afternoon reairs, continuing through the women’s and men’s finals live in the early hours of Saturday, Jan. 29, and Sunday, Jan. 30, (very late on Friday and Saturday nights, respectively).  Last week’s press release provides more details about the multi-platform coverage.

Cliff Drysdale and Dick Enberg return to call matches; Chris Fowler will host and call select matches, withChris McKendry also hosting.  Darren Cahill, Mary Joe FernandezBrad Gilbert and Patrick McEnroe return as analysts, as does Pam Shriver, who will primarily serve as a reporter.  Tom Rinaldi will contribute features, news and interviews.  This week’s schedule (for these charts, each day “begins” at 6 a.m. ET., therefore, the listing for Sunday, Jan. 23, at 3:30 a.m. ET is very late on Sunday night.)
