BTIG’s Richard Greenfield wrote this morning  that now Comcast has finished its acquisition of NBC Universal it should set its sights on Starz (requires free registration) for a few reasons:

  • Universal’s movie deal with HBO will be up in a few years and if Comcast bought Starz  it “could keep the content for themselves” rather than licensing it to HBO.
  • Comcast could leverage Universal studios to create more original programming for Starz
  • Hurt Netflix by refusing to license digital rights to Starz Content
